i just recieved my planning packet and i was looking at the cakes. first, they are all so expensize second i dont love any of them. Which did you choose or did you create your own. if you had pistures it would be great.

o yea if i get regular icig and not foundant will it be cheeper??

Buttercream is less expensive than fondant. If you find a picture of one somewhere, email it to your CM, the can make almost anything (for a price, of course).

We didn't love any of the cakes either. I printed some pictures online and took them with us for our planning session with the intention of asking them to copy the picture. When we got there, they pulled out a book of pictures that had some different ones that weren't on the CD and we found one we liked (didn't LOVE it, but at that point, liking it a lot was good for us :) ) that was very affordable :)

I sent a pic. It turned out to be a little more than I had originally expected, but they are working with my picture and my wedding planner (after I told her everything I really liked about the cake) and they've put together a cake for me they say I'll love. Good luck! It was one of my hardest decisions. I would recommend checking out the bridal mags and other bridal sites they have lots of suggestions! ;)

I would love to see pictures as well. I have a picture of what I want my cake to look like. I am wondering if they will charge me extra...

thank you for the rsponses. is their any cake that you girls would recomend from the list that i could tweak instead of getting a completly diffrent cake. this is so hard!!

Which did you choose or did you create your own.

Sunsh1ne, I went with mini-cakes for my FTW custom vow renewal because I wanted something a little off-beat and fun. I chose the Mickey Mouse Ears mini-cake: click here.

I asked Disney to make the chocolate ears that sat atop the cake “black” in honor of the Earful Tower inside the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park (where my event was being held). Disney could have dyed the ears just about any color, but I wanted them black. They decorated the rest of the mini-cake in various-colored Mickey Mouse heads (the three-dot kind – like Hidden Mickeys). It worked out beautifully, especially since the cakes were served inside the “Land of Oz” – a brightly-colored venue in its own right.

In the following photos, you can see the mini-cakes:

On my final bill, the cost breakdown was as follows (note: this pricing is from October of 2004):

Mini-Wedding Cakes = $25 per cake x 25 guests = $625
Sales Tax for Mini-Cakes = $40.63
Wedding Cake Service Charge = $173.75
Sales Tax for Wedding Cake Service Charge = $11.29

------------------------------------------------------------
Total = $850.67

When all was said and done, the cost for 25 miniature wedding cakes came to $34.03 a cake. (Again, this is October of 2004 pricing.)

Last summer I hosted a private party at the Grand Floridian. Mini-cakes were one of the desserts that were served at my party. Here are some photos of them:

The mini-cakes were a surprise to my guests and thus went over really well. My Event Manager and her staff really outdid themselves.

I don’t have my final bill handy so I don’t remember what I was charged for the cakes last summer. They don’t come cheap, that’s true. However, an awful lot of work goes into them. The Grand Floridian Bakery really does a wonderful job with their cakes, mini and otherwise.

with the mini cakes did you have a large cake at your wedding also??

No, each guest had their own mini-cake.

A mini-cake is usually more than sufficient for one person to eat since it's larger than a normal piece of cake. The following photo might give you a better idea as to its size: click here. I'm 5'10" tall and am holding the Mickey Mouse Ears mini-cake in the photo. I didn't finish my cake at my vow renewal.

I know a few people have chosen their own cake.

Started off with a plain round or square cake and added what decorations or prints etc they wanted!

Here is my cake

I am only having an Intimate but I have upgraded my cake.
I was charged an extra $80. My cake has black satin ribbon and yellow sugared calla lillies with the grass pictured. It is exactly what I want but my cake will have the buttercream icing as apparently fondant bubbles in the heat:confused:

janet- your wedding looked amazing i love the colors and the mickey hat is cool

summer- your cake is beautiful i love yellow so i bet yours looks even better.

wow so many choices

We had an Intimate but I didn't care for the "package" cake so we upgraded to my dream cake - it was exactly what I wanted! It tasted as amazing as it looked too :) It was expensive, especially for an Intimate (~$265) but worth every penny!!

This pic is from the Disney lo-res CD so forgive the blurriness:

Summer-Caitlin - that cake is beautiful!

Some of my favorite cakes at Disney weddings have been custom designed. If none of the cakes they showed you work for you, send them a picture of what you have in mind.

I wasn't a fan of any of the disney cakes either. They had a few that were close to what I wanted, but were mroe detailed (and therefore expensive!). I gave a picture of what I wanted to my planner and he negotiated for me with the GF bakery. In the end I got the cake I wanted, at a price I was ok with spending.

I wasn't thrilled with any of the ones in the book that DL FTW showed us, but I came prepared with a picture of what I wanted. The price was higher than what I had anticipated but it looked exactly what I wanted. All you ahve to do is ask as Disney bakers can do just about anything.

I'm not sure if Disney can duplicate any of these cakes, but I thought I would provide the links to you anyway. Look through the websites and see if anything appeals to you. If it does, run it by the FTW folks and ask if it can be done (and at what price).
