:cool1: We just purchased into SSR and now are in the process of deciding what building to request for our August stay. Initially, our thought was to pick the Congress building mainly for the view of the lake and downtown Disney. However, being closer to the main pool and main buildings would be nice as well. I figure you should be able to see the fireworks from a building close to the main pool. Can anyone offer thier experience and building selection at SSR?

we stayed in congress park building. it was a very delightful walk to downtown disney. we never heard the fireworks~too tired and fast asleep. anyway. whenever we wanted to go to the "front" we would just take the bus. :earboy2:

We stayed at Congress park the yellow building(2)and our room faced the quiet pool and DTD--great views

When you say go to the front do you mean to the pool and restaraunts? Do you know how far it is from the Congress buildings to the pool?

We stayed at SSR last summer and were in Congress Park. I don't remember the room number, but we stayed in a first floor one-bedroom overlooking the lake and almost straight across from Fulton's Crabhouse. The walk to the pool is about five minutes....not bad at all. The fireworks - such as they were - are visible, but did not last long. We could hear them, though.

Thanks for the info and response. I assume the fireworks did not keep you up. Would you stay in the same building again or try another building. I would think the view accross the lake would be tremendous and probably worth staying there as opposed to closer to the main pool, food and spa.

We can not wait to get there in August.......

I loved the Downtown Disney view. We stayed in room 2221, second floor dedicated 2B. Our room overlooked the "Leisure Pool", with Pleasure Island further in the background. We had an outstanding view of the fireworks.

The fireworks only last about 30 seconds. With your windows and doors closed, I can't believe that even a light sleeper would hear anything. DVC used special sound-dampening doors and windows to insulate guests from the disturbance.

For future trips, the Congress Park rooms will definitely be at the top of our list. With all of the walking you do at WDW, taking 5 minutes to walk to the main pool isn't anything I would consider an inconvenience.

tjkraz...

Thank you for the info. On another subject I have noticed a countdown calendar appearing on certain DVC members. I know I have seen at one time where to obtain this calendar, but can not remember where. Do you have a idea where to find this feature???

Silos, the fireworks did not keep us awake....we are used to hearing fireworks nightly because we usually stay at OKW and hear Epcot every night. Yes, we would stay in the same building. The views were great and the pathway that takes you over to Downtown Disney was right in front of our porch.

If you do not mind me asking what was the building or room number? We are staying in a one bedroom and have requested to have a view of DTD. If I can give them some room or building numbers it may help us get a good room.

Thanks.....

We stayed in the building closest to DTD. We had a great view. We stayed on the 3rd floor in a 2 bdrm. The walk wasn't too long. We swam at the quiet pool and really enjoyed it. The last day my niece really wanted to swim at the main pool so we did. Again a short walk or you can jump on the bus. I have requested The Springs for our next trip but when we go back with my brother's family he already said he'd like to stay in the same building.

We stayed in room 1610, dedicated 2Brm, in Congress Park. We were on the second floor. Our room did not directly overlook DTD, but you could see it. We saw the fireworks from the master window, but could not from the 2nd room. Othere than the nights were we up to and watched the very short fireworks, they never bothered us.

We loved this room. It was the last one on the floor and was right by the back stairs. I have requested the same building for our next trip. I would love to get the same room, but didn't request it.

Have fun!
