What brand of coffee?

I know this is really an odd question but does anyone know what brand of coffee they use on the ship. I was talking to my son-in-law over the weekend and he raved about the coffee on their last cruise, Magic - June 2002. I would love to be able to get some and surprise him.
You know - bring back those good memories of the cruise. I'm new to the boards and have found out so much nformation. You all are so helpful. I hope to get to meet some of you on our next cruise in April 2003.

If I remember correctly the coffee they serve is Nescafe'.

I LOVED the coffee on board. But, not too long ago, there was another thread on the subject of coffee (very extensive, I might add) with numerous posts about coffee on board. It went into detail about everyone that was planning on bringing their own coffee makers and even their own coffee and coffee grinders.

As I said, I LOVED the coffee when we were on the Magic both times. When I asked our server, he said it was Columbian, but did not offer a brand. To me it tastes a lot like Burger King coffee and, for some reason, I LOVE BK coffee. My DH says that it's the kind that is in liquid form, frozen, and then thawed out and put into the urns. I'm sure it's not fresh brewed -- I know for sure the iced tea isn't fresh brewed. The iced tea is AWFUL! I think that's Nestea and from a soda fountain-type machine. I always ask for hot tea and a glass of ice and make my own iced tea at dinner, etc.

Yes, I may be bringing coffee.... We drink coffee ordered through Gevalia. And, very rarely have we experienced anything that compares! Once your hooked, your hooked. ( And no having to throw on some clothes and having to go bring it back to your room. Or having to order otherwise unnecessary room service.) Hot rich smooth gourmet coffee first thing in the morning!

I'm with you Wishing on a Star, we're also Gevalia customers and I'm thinking of bringing my coffee maker along with me. I've become very spoiled and have to have a cup of Chocolate Raspberry in the evenings.

For me coffee mostly serves medicinal purposes, but since I've started drinking it regularly I've become hooked without a doubt.

We're going to get some Nescafe' to see how I handle it before the trip. But when you're going on such a first class vacation, having a cheap coffee just doesn't cut it.

I'll agree with some of the writers that the coffee could use improvement. It's the same at the parks. I thought I was just being picky not liking it & since the comment card at the end of the cruise doesn't give you a place to write comments, I didn't know who to complain to.

To me, it tastes like the coffee served at WDW, which I also like very much.

I always thought it was made with ground coffee, but made with packaged amounts with the same amount of cold water every time. Once you get the amounts of water and coffee figured out, you just repeat it every time and you have a good formula.

I have asked several times while onboard the ships and also at WDW as to what brand of coffee is used and the only answer I ever get is 'it's 100% Columbian' and they don't think you can get it for home use at all.

It is almost always very tasty.

I do believe that the coffee onboard is from a concentrated syrup.... I love it too!

YUK! Sorry folks. I brought my own coffee maker and starbucks and I'am glad I did! I did not like the coffee at WDW or on the ship!

OH MAN. The coffee at Disney tastes rancid! It's only good for a caffine emergency.

If you're a quality coffee drinker BRING YOUR OWN. (You can get good espresso from the counter at Palo when it' open though).

While we're once again on the subject of coffee....

The Disney coffee isn't undrinkable; I'd say it is comparable to Dunkin' Donuts. However, it definitely doesn't taste like Starbucks, Seattle's Best, Green Mountain Coffee or even Gevalia.

I brought a two-cup Melitta plastic filter, some filters and a bag of Starbucks on our land/sea vacation. At the Beach Club I was able to get a coffee maker from Hospitality and some filters from the gift shop (actually, they were out of them, but the CM gave me some from her supply, which was really sweet! ).

On the cruise, I ordered hot water each morning from room service. It was barely hot enough for two cups, but miraculously, I survived. Two things I would mention about this approach - there is no room service on debarkation day (although if you are really desperate there is hot water on the 9th deck), and since you need to throw out whatever coffee you have left before debarking so as not to risk customs problems (you can't bring in any unsealed food regardless of where it was obtained) upon returning to the US, you shouldn't bring with you an excessive amount of coffee.

I would have loved to bring a coffee maker, but since we were traveling internationally with our land/sea vacation sandwiched in between other stateside visits, I had neither the time nor the inclination (nor the room in my suitcase!) to deal with it.

I'm also a bit of a coffee nut, I'll admit. Space is an issue for us as well, six of us traveling from the west coast, so I'm debating between a relatively small travel coffee maker at Costco and an immersion heater to bring the hot water up to temperature. We love dark, strong coffe, and could live without it for a week--but why ? I am a little envious of those who like the coffee on board as is. Different tastes are interesting and fun.

As for coffee of choice, we're bring a great dark roast blend from San Luis Obispo, SLO roasted coffee--my current personal favorite.

Coffee.....

Seattle's is the best on the planet. Bring some of your own along. The coffee on ship is quite tolerable. But, it is not seattle's coffee.
