I've decided against a passporter after all your advice, but am going to buy the unofficial guide to WDW at the end of the month when the 2005 edition comes out, again thanks to all your advice.
this has lead me to browsing on amazon ( two weeks of work at the moment!) lots out there, so bearing in mind that i have Simons book (and will get 2005 when available) and will have the unofficial guide, what other book should i be looking at? has anyone read Hidden Mickeys? I dont really need books with accomodation advice, as have villa booked for next year and heart and credit card set on AKL for year after, am looking for books to feed my planning habit and trivia to bore friends and family with to pass the next 275 days!

well......admittedly, i have all of them.....pretty much everything out there.....perhaps i need a 12 step program or something...
but having read almost all of them, i can't really recommend anything other than what you already have or are planning to buy....those two are the best in my opinion (although i also very much like the conciseness of the Birnbaum book, when used together with Simon's and the unofficial guide)...
--------------
I'm editing this to change my mind.....i definitely think the Birnbaum Official Guide to WDW is worthwhile (the newest edition - wait for 2005 if it's not too far off). Nicely organized, relatively comprehensive, good maps. Worth the investment.
----------------
as for others, i suppose you should just go ahead and buy whatever looks interesting to you (that's pretty much how i ended up with so many.....browsing on amazon.uk....adding more and more books to my shopping cart)...

one word of advice however, make sure you check the publishing date......there are some books out there that are relatively old in WDW time....i wouldn't buy anything that's from before 2004, too much has changed and it gets annoying....and considering that it's so late in the year, you might want to wait for the 2005 editions to come out.....

if you're into hidden mickeys, go for it....i'm not a hidden mickey person, so i've never bought any of those....
and depending how old you are and with whom you're traveling, you might like the "no kids" books...or the "with kids" books...

there are some that have nicer pictures than others, but i don't recall which at this point....

truth is, for someone like me, you can't have too many WDW guides, so if you're like that, why not buy them all....;)

thanks Beth, will have a look at the Birnbaum when the new edition comes out, am trying to avoid buying them all, trying to be economical but, it doesn't suit me!

Would highly recommend Birnbaums. Amazon say it's due out Oct 24th for 2005. I shall be in the states then, so will probably buy it then, could work out a bit cheaper. If you'd like I could get a 2nd one too.

thanks for the offer Jane, I had seen that the Birnbaums was out in oct, yesterday i finally made a decision and ordered the new "unofficial guide "from amazon.com as its out in US already, once I,ve read it, will probably get Birnbaum, may put it on my xmas list!
enjoy your trip.

No probs - if you change your mind, just let me know.
