OK, poll coming. I thought it would be fun to ask all my fellow dissers which book I should start reading next. I am only about a chapter away from finishing Crichton's TimeLine (excellent book by the way), and am ready to start a new one.
I have listed 12 choices (not including any Crichton books), and have not included an "other" option, simply because I probably don't have the books that might be mentioned. So, of the books on the poll, which would you choose.

I voted for John Grisham... but not sure the one listed is the best... my faves are the rainmaker, the runaway jury (but the film was nothing compared to the book) and I think it was the broker that I read last and really enjoyed!

How about The Count of Monte Cristo. I've read it a few times as I love to read about myself!;)

I am a huge Clive Cussler fan and would always reccommend his books.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I voted for Sense and Sensibility. I love Jane Austen. It was difficult to choose between that and James Michener, though. He was a close second--he writes such interesting books. My favorite is Centenniel but Poland is very good, as well.

Oh what great books!! That was a difficult poll.

I would suggest Jane Austin. Her books are very well written and definitely worth the read :)

Another vote for Cussler! He is my all time favorite, I've been reading him for over 25 years now, just finished his latest, THe Treasure of Khan. HAd the pleasure of meeting him a while back, a real character! Enjoy Shock Wave, if I remember correctly it's a good one!

Another one of my favorites is James Patterson. That Womens Murder Club series is pretty good and that IS the first in the series......

THis is a hard one!

I voted for the Patterson book (I like his novels) but I would actually vote for anything BUT Grisham b/c I detest his books. You've read one, you've read them all. IMO, utter tripe.

I voted for the Patterson book. They're really great. books by Faye Kellerman (Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus series) and Jonathan Kellerman (Alex Delaware series) are also really good.

I voted for Tom Clancy. The Hunt For Red October was his first (and probably his best) book. But Cussler would have been my second choice!

Well, so far it's seems to be coming down to a three way race between Grisham, Patterson and Austin.
Anybody else?

I thought you were the sandwich! :rotfl: I read the book, too, but I really figured you'd named yourself after the sandwich. :)

OP, I voted for Jane Austen. People make fun of them for being like romance novels, but I don't care. I really like her books.

Did you already read Hawaii? Because if you're going to read a Michener book, that's the one! But I warn you...if you read it, you'll be dying to go!

I'll toss out a vote for Shogun, too, even though it isn't on the list. From what you listed, I think you'd like it. It was a great book!

Another one I think you'd like is Exodus.

...but what do I know?

Hilarious. I actually don't like swiss cheese so I am not a fan of my sandwich.:rotfl:

Definitely the book though, thus my DIS ID.

I just finished Death on the Nile.....one of my Christie favorites....:) I say go for Jane Austen next!

Actually I have read Hawaii. I thought it was a very good book, albeit a bit long. In fact it was the first Michener book that I read.
