I am sailing next August with my daughter, and it is her birthday trip so I wanted to see what beverages qualify for the DV OBC. We usually use OBB but didn't have one out there for this trip (poor planning on my part). It is only a three night cruise. I'd love for the coffees to be included!

You mean the $50 on board credit you get for booking with the Disney Visa? It just shows up as $50 on your shipboard account. You can use it for anything. I think even for tips. Definitely for shopping or drinks or the extra charge restaurants, etc.

It used to be that the Disney VISA OBC that you got for paying for the cruise with the VISA was good for anything.

Last year it changed to only being good for beverages. For a little while after the change, the DCL computers couldn't figure out how to only deduct beverages from that OBC. But they figured it out. The OBC can only be applied to beverage purchases now, from what I've read.

Well, I'll update after my trip then. I have that Disney Visa OBC. I've got something like $575 of OBC between various places.

We'll see how it breaks out. I do plan on ordering drinks. I can't guarantee I'll order some kind of premium coffee, but there will definitely be mock cocktails ordered.

i had heard this, too. on my magic cruise last month, however, the notice we got in our stateroom about the OBC specifically said we could use the OBC for anything. i was pretty surprised, as everything else i read/heard, including the phone rep when i requested the credit, and the disney visa website, said it was for drink purchases only.

as i had already been prepared to spend the OBC on drinks, i went ahead and did so. i had read on here previously that it was good for any bar purchases (including souvenir cups and similar items), drinks in the MDRs, and cove cafe. my bar/drink charges came to $52 - that included drinks from bars, drinks ordered in the MDRs, coffees from cove cafe, and a nightmare before christmas popcorn bucket that i purchased at the bar outside the theater and therefore was rung up as a bar charge.

the full $50 was deducted from my on board charges. that makes me think things like the cove cafe coffees, and the popcorn bucket i bought at the bar, were counted as drink purchases. that said, based on the letter in our stateroom, it's entirely possible they would have taken the $50 off of anything. in any case, if the cove cafe coffees are your main concern, there are a bunch of previous threads on here that say those are included. :)
