I have used for the last twenty years a Tamrac zoom holster for all of my slr's. It has a strap and can hang over my shoulder, I can put it around my neck and carry it on my chest in questionable areas. Most importantly to me, it has a belt loop on it so I can put it on like a gun holster and carry it on my side and just pull the camera out of the top. I own a smaller 515 for just a small slr (my trusty Minolta X700) and the 517 a larger bag that I can keep my 18-85mm Nikkor and my D70s and the 75-300G lens in the bag. The front pocket holds my SB600 flash unit too. It is a nice compact bag that is very dependable for me. I used to sell cameras and do not trust bags that only use snaps to close them. A zipper everytime ensures the security of all the items in your bag. No more chasing batteries or rolls of loose film that fall out.
