What bag/backpack to bring?

I have tried several bags and backpacks and still haven't found the ONE that works to carry misc. stuff and not get too cumbersome.

I'd also love to hear about a waterproof bag or a suggestion to carry rain ponchos.

I use a small backpack. I put water, snacks and everything else I need to carry with me. It doesn't weigh too much when it is packed with everything.

We use a Lands End back pack. It was one of our kids from school originally. Great padding on the shoulds and not too large. It holds all our ponchos, autograph books, camera, snacks ect. It has different compartments which is very nice. My husband and I each carry a basic fanny pack as well. Works great for us. I think any school size back pack is good for Disney. What you don't want is something so big your back hurts from carrying it.

I recommend the backpack bag by Under Armour. It is water proof, has a mesh lining that rests on your back, so it is breathable and the best part is that the straps that go on your shoulders are foamy so they don't dig into your shoulders. Best bag ever, it was $20 at Dicks, so you would be able to find it there or any other place like that. We have navy one and a black one. I've seen a grey one and I think that I've seen pink and a light blue also. There is also a little zipper part in the front for your easy access stuff.

As strange as this may sound you could go to your local dive shop. They have various back pack, sort of nylon type bags that are water proof and many are not heavy to carry. Some are not overly expensive either and they work great! You can also get waterproof containers to carry around your neck or wrist for water parks. Fit comb, money credit cards, key, etc.

I take a Jantzen messenger bag that I wear over my shoulder. Backpacks give me backaches! I bought two of these at Kohl's last year. They were on sale for $7/each.

This is exactly what I am looking for but I can't find it. I only found the bigger more expensive one. Any help?

Messenger bags are by far the best. I used them all through school and doubled as a purse. They are perfect. :)

I have a backpack that we used at camp (I'm a scout leader) and it was great. I'm also taking it to Disney. As for rain ponchos, I'm taking a big ziplock baggie to put them in once we're finished using them (they're not the wear 1x time things, but not huge). This is a backpack with 1 sling on it. You put it around you and it hangs on one shoulder. I lucked up and got it for $1 at a fundraiser sale.

You didn't say whether it was just for you or for a whole tribe. I try to go as light as possible into the parks using cargo shorts and lanyards. You could always get a locker to carry essentials into the park but not necessarily with you.

It would be tough with a small child/infant. But with older kids they could each get their own backpacks to help carry things.

I get by with my digital camera on a lanyard, small wallet with ticket media and cash, sunglass clipons, wipe on sunscreen, park map. If you're staying onsite you can always have any purchases sent to your resort. And for any medical emergencies there are first aid areas in every park.

I have used small backpacks and a shoulder bag in the past and it just got to be cumbersome but try them - they may be perfect for you! :cheer2:

Have a great time! Ely

I bring my Kate SPade messanger bag. Just take out my work stuff and load the Disney stuff in! It is pretty water proof. I do not carry tons of stuff as I don't have kids. Backpacks are not comfortable for me.
