What attraction was better/worse than you expected?

Did Laugh Floor for the first time this weekend. Wife anx I both regret not doing it sooner. Ended up doing it 3 more times. I can't wait to take the kids again so they can see it.

Flip side is we also did Stitch for the first and last time.

Better - believe it or not, Frozen. The ride was really well done I thought!! I went in expecting to be let down but I had fun and so did my kids.

Worse - Playhouse Disney show. The first time I saw it years ago I was disappointed with the floor seating and felt like the characters were way too small, it wasn't worth it at all.

Better- Under the Sea. I thought it would be another Pooh-like ride (which I also enjoy), but I was very, very impressed by the animatronics and theming. We rode it several times after that.

Worse- Kali River Rapids. Really? That's it? I mean we literally went around one turn and down a short hill and that was it... The water raft ride at our local Busch Gardens is significantly better. This (and Stitch) is probably the only ride I've gotten off of at Disney where I've said "what were they thinking?"

Better - Winnie the Pooh. Made me happy :)

Worst - Astro Orbitor. Ughhh. This ride reminded me of a run down , make you want to throw up carnival ride.
Hubby would say BTMRR (I did not ride as I was with the 2 year old). Much to bumpy to enjoy.

Better: Country Bear Jamboree. Avoided it for years, finally went in and couldn't stop laughing. I love that show, and if you ever get a chance to interact with the Country Bear characters, they are so much fun.

Worse: Kali River Rapids. Very short, loved the queue but the ride was really lacking in story. I also ended up being in the drench seat, which I wasn't too pleased about. Only rode it the once.

Better: Peter Pan, Splash Mountain, and PhilharMagic
I absolutely adore Peter Pan, and I am not even sure why I love it so much. I don't care for the movie, but the dark, cool air-conditioning and soothing music make it one of my favorite rides. We always make sure to get a FP for it. PhilharMagic is purely nostalgic for me, and I am always amused watching our kids reach for the screen. Donald Duck crashing never gets old for my kids! Like many other posters said, Splash Mountain was a surprise favorite. I am not a fan of wet clothes so I avoided it for years. When BTMRR was closed (yet again) during our FP time, Splash Mountain was offered as an alternative. Since we ready to leave the park for the day and my DD really wanted to ride Splash Mountain, I agreed. The ride was long and super fun!

Worse: Mission Space - despised the whole thing. I should have gotten out when I saw the barf bags upon entering.

Better: Peoplemover. We went on the first time this past trip just to rest our feet but LOVED it. So much so that we did it again the same day as our final ride of the trip!

Worse: TSMM. Ugh. I was dizzy, I needed a chiropractor after, and when the kids and I got off we all said, "People wait hours for THAT?"

Better-TTA... I love it!!
Worse- Seven Dwarves Mine Train- people are waiting 2 hours to ride that? Ugh Id rather get a root canal

Best: I agree with a lot of other posters and say the Flights of Wonder is amazing. I also adore TT at Epcot, but I wish it was a bit longer. I could handle one more loop about the building.

Worst: I detest the Finding Nemo show. It is really boring. You can't really even rest and enjoy the AC because there are no chair backs. I also do not like the Monsters Inc. Laugh Factory. We saw it once and no one wanted to return.

Better - Soarin, the first time I rode it was shortly after opening at California Adventure and it was so much more than I expected

Worse - The new little mermaid clamshell ride, with all the build up and hype and effort they put into theming the outside of the ride I was expecting this to be the best ride in the MK. I watched numerous imagineering videos that they released and looked at the artists renderings and it looked great. When I actually rode it I was extremely let down by the actual ride itself

Better - Tower of Terror. I love the theming and the show. It's like a thrill ride cousin to HM.

Worse - Soarin (old version). No idea why people like it so much. The film quality was poor and the fake cloud transitions were lame. We will give the new version a try because we think DS will like it.

Worse - Test Track. I've heard it described as "Disney's on ramp simulator" and couldn't agree more. I drive faster than that on my way to work. :drive:

Our first visit, I would say the vast majority of rides were better than expected. Wouldn't it be great to go back and experience some of the WDW headliners for the first time again?

Anyway, those that stand out:
Better:
  • Soarin. I never experienced anything like it, and still haven't. My quintessential WDW ride.
  • RnRC - For the initial acceleration, and the music. Enough said. :)
  • Splash - Because it's so long! Wasn't expecting that.
  • EE -We're going... backwards!
  • Animation academy - really miss having this at HS. It really fit well with the theme of the park too.

Worse: (please don't flame me :) )
  • Stitch: We left 1) trying to figure out what we just saw 2) Trying to get that smell out of our noses/mouths and 3) Trying to dry my wifes shorts that got all wet from a malfunctioning mister. (she initially thought she had just sat in some kids pee, but then realized it was a leaky mister. Whew!)
  • Mission Space: Very cramped, not much to see or do, and it was one of the few rides that have ever given me "that" feeling in my stomach.
  • Journey of the Little Mermaid: Just doesn't seem like something that is up to Disney standards. Cheap looking props, and kinda weird animatronics.
  • Rafiki's planet watch - Meh
  • Maelstrom - I grabbed a FP for this? What was I thinking?
  • The World Showcase. Feels like a big (albiet wonderfully decorated) shopping strip to me
Anyway, those are some that come to mind.
Dan

Better: Tower of Terror - I am extremely terrified of heights, and I was so afraid that this was going to be similar to those "dungeon drop" type of rides. I was so scared, to the point where I wasn't sure I could go on the ride. I am so happy that I went on this one. I think I rode it 4 times that day. And now it is my favorite ride in all of WDW.

Worse: The Backlot - its not there anymore, but I read so much about this attraction before going to HS and there really wasn't much there. I am a huge movie fan, so I was expecting a lot out of this one.

Better - Soarin, the first time I rode it was shortly after opening at California Adventure and it was so much more than I expected

Worse - The new little mermaid clamshell ride, with all the build up and hype and effort they put into theming the outside of the ride I was expecting this to be the best ride in the MK. That's because it has a short-circuited finale due to cost-cutting. (i.e. Ursula's demise goes by in a side panel.)

Frozen Ever After. What a joke! Maelstrom was a million times better than this.
