What are your working hours?

I work M-F 9:00am - Noon. I am off when the kids are off from school during the school year, and can take off if they are sick. I always take off the days the school is closed because of weather. My DH works nights so I work my regular hours in the summer. I have been here 4.5 years, and love my job. We are becoming a bigger church lately, and we have spoken of extending my hours, although I have made it clear that I am not interested in working full time.

I work for an insurance company and we have flex time. You start between 7:00am and 9:00am and end between 4:00pm and 6:00pm, working 8 hours plus a 1 hour lunch. I usually work about 7:45 to 4:45. Our "core hours" are 8:00 to 5:00, which means someone has to be available during those hours. We sometimes run into a problem on Fridays when everyone wants to leave earlier. They ask for volunteers, otherwise we have to take turns.

8:00-4:00 with a half hour lunch. My previous job was 9-5, so I'm having trouble getting used to starting earlier, but I LOVE leaving an hour earlier!

Wow! Lots of people with flex hours! I've been working for the wrong companies apparently.

Either 7:40 to 2:30 or 8:40 to 3:30 depending on which grade I'm subbing for at school. I like the earlier one much better!:D

7:00 to 3:30 with a 1/2 hour lunch. I usually take my lunch at 3pm (grab a quick bite at my desk while working around 11:30) so I can pick up the girls by 4pm. It takes me 40 - 45 minutes to get from work to thier school on a good day. Some times a little earlier or later if DH can pick up the girls, but I earn comp time for that! So a couple of days of long hours and I earn a day off! Always nice!

Wow! Where are these flexible companies? When I was working I was always frustrated when I had to do something like pick up sick son at school, took a day off because he was sick, attend something at his school. Even my boss told me that our company was NOT "parent friendly." A major reason I left after being there 8 years! I had enough of feeling guilty about staying home with a sick child. And we were not allowed to use our time for it either. Had to take it unpaid.

7:00- 3:00 with a half hour for lunch. Actually, I have an hour conference period (I'm a teacher) right after my lunch, so I really have 1 1/2 hours for lunch. I also work about two evenings/month & about eight Saturdays/year. I enjoy getting off early.

My dayshift hours are 5:30 am til 4:00 pm
I have to literally get up in the middle of the night (3:30 am) to go to work (I take way too long to get ready and have kind of a long drive).
Even though I only work a 10 hr shift, with the extra half hour (lunch) and the travel time, I am gone from about 4:45 am til 4:45 pm (12 hours). Sometimes, I catch myself falling asleep at the wheel on the way home.

I set my own hours, but I like to get in and start my day early, so I can leave early-
I usually work 7:30-4:00 with 1/2 hr. unpaid lunch
I have a very flexible work schedule.

My hours are normally 9 - 3 (or so), lunch at my desk when I am hungry while I work. (If I take a "real" lunch I have to work later) If I want to go in early so I can leave early, thats never a problem. I have 2 kids, and I dont like to keep them in the afterschool program for too long. The ladies do alot of screaming. I love my job!!!! 16 years and counting!!!!

8 to 4:30 with 1/2 hour for lunch, but we can take an hour if we want.

I am a professor...cushey job, right? I "teach" only a few hours a week, but I spend about 8-10 hours a day at work, particularly in the laboratory. I work with animals, so I also work all holidays, etc. (animals have to be taken care of 365 days a year!). I rarely have a day completely off- except for my time in WDW. On the other hand, I can leave to pick my kids up from school and arrange my "have to be" times around my kids schedule. I am often grading papers, reviewing articles or writing before bed.

As a town-gown event I once had a vice president of a major insurance corporation (hint: Think Bloomington, IL) "shadow" me for the day. My day started at 7 AM and finished about 10pm after a dinner meeting. I ate lunch on the run that day, and spent much of it multi-taskin. Oh, and I was 8 months pregnant. The executive was EXHAUSTED at the end...so I reminded him that I still had laundry waiting for me, probably dinner dishes since my DH had dealt with the kids all evening, papers to grade, and my first class was at 8 the next morning. He decided I was grossly underpaid!!!!

BUT- I love what I do and wouldn't change it (well, except the pay part- I make less than most high school teachers with similar years experience).

It is at this time of year as I watch my seniors and grad students graduating and starting careers of their own that I realize how fortunate I have been to see them grow and develop into really wonderful adults. They, at some point, have stopped being a "student" and become the "teacher" to the younger students in the lab. I realize I have learned as much or more from them as they (hopefully) have from me. I burst with pride and hate graduation because I am so gosh darn proud of them (even if they WILL make more than I do!). That is the biggest reward of all- and no money or hours can reinforce me more than realizing that the world is not hopeless- there are some awesome young people out there and we ARE in capable hands!!!!

I'm a substitute teacher, so if I'm at one of the elementary schools it's 8:30- 4:00, if I'm at one of the middle schools it's 7:45-3:15.

Scheduled Hours 7a-7p with 30 min lunch
Reality hours: 6:50a-? with lunch on the run and praying no one falls 5 min before i lieave.

My hours (on paper) are 7.30am-4.30pm..............

I usually start around 5.00am...leave at 5.00pm

Officially it's 9:00-5:30, but we (the three guys in my department and myself) can pretty much come and go as we please as long as the work gets done. Some times we need a little flexibilty, based on what the workload might be on a particular day, and my boss got tired of us having to always ask her when we needed to change our schedule.
