What are your plans this Christmas Eve?

Tamale Party with friends. Can't wait!

Christmas Eve is the big night for our family. I will go to my parents house and my aunt and uncle will come over. We will open the majority of gifts. We are having a hard time deciding on dinner though. We have thought about Pizza, Clam Chowder (from a local place), my dad wants Carls Jr., pancakes or my suggestion this morning, homemade tacos or hamburgers. During the day, my dad, uncle and I always go shopping and have lunch. This started when I was a little girl and my mom needed me out of the house to wrap. Now that I am an adult, we use it so I can help my dad and uncle buy something for my mom and aunt. It's a nice tradition. Merry Christmas everyone! :bounce:

1. Arrive at church at 3:15 for DD10 to rehearse for children's service.

2. 4 pm - children's service

3. 6 pm - service led by youth choir (including DD13 and DS14)

4. 7 pm call for adult choir

5. 8 pm service of Lessons and Carols led by adult choir (incl. DH and I)

6. 9 pm - pot luck dinner at church for choir

7. the kids and I go home - DH stays and sings the 11 pm service

8. Put kids to bed, fill stockings, fill Santa's sack

Makes me tired to think about it!!!!!!!!!

Mass at 5pm followed by family dinner of 6-8. Traditional Latino nochebuena celebration with extended family and friends, 60-70 in all, ended two years ago by fractious divorces - sad

We'll be going to the in laws for Christmas Eve dinner and opening gifts that night since MIL does Christmas Day dinner also. This way she can enjoy watching the kids opening their gifts instead of them rushing on Christmas Day cause she has to hurry up and fix dinner.

Christmas Day we'll open gifts here from Santa and then back to the in laws. Finally after everyone is done and gone we are going to give the in laws a "surprise" gift {baby bibs that say "I love Grandma" and "I love Grandpa" on them}. We still haven't told our families that we are expecting and thought this would be fun way to do it.

Christmas Eve I'll be up at 6A.M. getting ready for work until 12 P.M. and then I'll start getting ready for our annual Christmas party where we open gifts from our extended relatives at my Grandma's house. Christmas Day we'll get up and open the newly arrived gifts from Santa and then the present from mom & dad & litttle brother :dog2:

I'll probably clean house in the morning (I have company coming for Christmas Dinner). Then it's mostly church. I have to be there by 3 oclock for our final run through, choir sings for the 5 and 7 oclock service (they feed us between). My mom will probably bring the kids to one of those services. I should be home by 8:30. We'll probably do leftovers for dinner for everyone (got to clean out the fridge space for Christmas leftovers!). Then at least DS and I will head back to church for the 11:00 candlelight service.

It will be a long day!

Another chuch musician! Given the ages of our kids, we have three more years of doing the Children's AND the Youth AND the Adult services. DH is a paid soloist, so he does everything.

So far it looks like I am the only one that will be doing this. Christmas Eve: Sleep late, get nails done in afternoon, go see KING KONG. I love going to the movies on holidays, it is pretty much empty and I don't have to worry about big fat heads being in my view. :teeth:

Same thing we do every year - we'll go to mass at 4 p.m. It's a mass of the Christmas Story. Then we'll go to visit my grandfather in his final resting place (the cemetary is on church grounds).

Head back to our house with my family, have hors de veurs & sandwiches. Open gifts, play some games, lots of talking, lots of pictures. We'll watch outside for Santa (for my 3 yr. old nephew).

Girls will go to bed around midnight or so. We'll bring the gifts down & then it's off to bed for us. Our girls are teens now, so they don't wake up too early anymore on Christmas morning.

Since my grandfather died Christmas eve when I was nine, we started celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve. Dinner at mom's house (used to be at my sister's, but she is not handling not having my dad here very well - he died in May), open gifts from each other, Santa drops off stocking for the two children (my DD and my nephew). Go to my aunts (for the first time - used to be at Grandmothers) for Italian seven fish and raviolli soup. Off to llok at Christmas lights and then home to put DD to bed. Wrap gifts and hopefully get a few hours of sleep.

Going to my aunt's house to get together with my mom's side of the family. Then Christmas day we'll have my dad's side over.

We're going to my parents house to open presents with them. Mama cooks gumbo, so we all eat and have a good time.

Then we go to DH's parents to open presents and eat again. We usually just nibble around here....cookies and party foods.

When we come back home, we light a bonfire in the backyard and sit around for a bit on the back porch just enjoying each other before we go to bed.

My husband has to work late but his mom and my mom will be here. No specific plans other then waiting for the kids to go to sleep so we can wrap stocking stuffers and get the presents by the tree.

Candlelight Processional at 6:45, dinner at Le Cellier at 8 then Illuminations.

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Merry Chistmas from the Dolphin! :)

Christmas eve we go to my brother in laws in New Jersey and celebrate with the traditional 7 fish dinner (we're Italian) and then Midnight Mass.
