what are your plans for the summer?

We are doing a "weekend away" at the end of June with DD/SIL/7yo, staying in an airbnb. This is the first overnight for the 7yo with staying in a strange, new place. We are trying to build up his confidence in being away from home overnight as we hope to plan a family trip to WDW for next spring.

Eight nights in NOLA at my sister's/BIL's. We kid ourselves that this is a budget vacation; airfare on points, no hotel or rental car bills. HAHAHA... we will spend what we save, and more, on amazing food and drink while we are there!

DD and I are doing a long weekend to WDW in August. No theme park tickets, just 3 nights at the Polynesian! This is SO out of our budget and comfort zone, but DD got a super bounceback offer when she came back from her vacation in April that we just couldn't pass it up! We're gonna kick back, enjoy the pools and bars at the Poly, eat in some nice restaurants. Can't wait!!

At the end of August, DH and I have rented a cottage on the shore in southern Maine. We have done this for the past 4? 5? summers. It's lovely and relaxing, just he and I in our little cottage, walking on the beach in the morning and evening, visiting with my siblings/nieces/cousins, or not, just hanging out together.

We just got a reminder of an upcoming trip to the Smokey’s that we had forgotten about. Sweet! So we’re heading back in two weeks. Now to plan what to do. We’re thinking hiking to a waterfall and Dollywood (already have season passes). Maybe rafting.

We've already had our big summer vacation, we spent a week at The Cape (you New Englanders know where I mean, for everyone else it's Cape Cod). We went back to the hotel we honeymooned at 43 years ago, visited a few other places, basically had a wonderful time. The rest of the summer will be spent at home and indoors in the air-conditioning. It's only June, but temperatures are already breaking 100 degrees many days. Yes, I go to Orlando to cool down!
