My DH and I will be visiting for 1 day in May for Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival. What not to miss. This will be our first time. Any suggestions will be helpful.

I missed it last year but am definitely making plans to go this year The little food kiosks look nice to try and I really liked the butterfly area and think that is there every year Did you see this ? Might help you

May I ask a question? On the menus from the food booths some selections have a little green "Try it" icon next to them.

What does that mean :confused3

Thanks!

Lisa

I think it's just their way of encouraging people to try new flavors. I was there this weekend and my DBF and I ate and drank our way around the booths. Gotta say there's some great stuff out there! The Watermelon Salad at Florida Fresh, the Lamb in Morocco, DBF loved the Frushi in Japan, and I loved their Pineapple Dream. :) Oh and the Flan in Mexico was perfect :)

you are making me want to jump in the car and go right now ! That watermelon salad looks delicious on the blog

If you are interested in gardening, get a program guide and see who is speaking in the festival center (used to be the Wonders of Life Pavilion.) Every day there are different people talking on different gardening topics in there. Last year my dh and I went to one about growing herbs and we each got a small herb to plant and take home.
On the weekends they have speakers from HGTV. I know that David Bromstad is going to be there one weekend and Genevieve Gorder is going to be there.
Then there are also the Eat to the Beat concerts. We have seen the Turtles, Peter Noone and I think we are going to see the Village People this year.
It is a lot of fun.

I thought I saw in the brochure or passport someone posted that these are food items they encourage parents to have their kids try.

I read that too. Try it are foods kids will likely enjoy. There's a video on YouTube with a lady and her kids or grand kids tasting and reviewing all the try it selections.

I think this was it. It's from last year though

Don't want to be a party pooper but the dole whip is a little serving of pineapple ice cream (not sponsored by Dole this year) with some rum on the bottom. My recollection is that it didn't get great reviews last year but I could be wrong.

I had the pineapple soft serve without rum last night and it tastes the same as the one MK to me.

Yeah, Josh from easyWDW wasn't impressed and he's a man who knows his alcohol. ;)

Easy. Butterfly Garden and then a white sangria at the Florida Fresh kiosk. Or a blueberry beer at the same kiosk (husband loved it). Then walk around the Showcase and take pictures of every single topiary. Oh - then watch Illuminations.

Absolutely perfect night just five nights ago. Damn, why am I back in reality?

Pics in front of the Mayan frieze at Mexico.
German beers and hot pretzels, fish and chips at the counter near Rose and Crown.

Wonderful fireworks at night,
:hippie:

My favorite topiary is Lady & the Tramp in Italy.

Don't miss the orchids in Mexico-they are on a path on the side of the pavilion.

The bonsai in Japan are cool too.
