Yeah.
It's just that you have to be extra careful as a teenager posting on the CB. Most adults have that biased opinion that all teenagers are idiots. Sad, but true.

Oh god, that's exactly how I feel. Really-- exactly the same way. When that CB guy came over here and tried to explain to me why I really shouldn't want an iPod, and shouldn't hold opinions about companies because I have the mind of a sheep and think only what I'm supposed to think (and seemingly didn't believe that I was capable of forming my own opinions) I quit posting because I figured that if I wanted to be condescended, that's what my siblings are for.

And Shelby, my parents don't care that I text a lot.
I just got the unlimited package. I can go to around 200-300+ texts a day.
It was only $10 extra, and they SAID I had to pay it every month, but they usually forget, and I'm not the one who's going to remind them...

And yeah, the CB is scary. :/

Dang that sucks about the CB. I was reading and cheering for the teens, lol! I don't think I'll be going there for a while. Hey guys mind if I hang out here for maybe the rest of my life? =P I wish the adults here could be fair and treat us like adults instead of like their own kids.

thats exactly what i was thinking the whole time i was reading this. my mom reads my text messages everynight before i go to bed. i have recently been deleting my entire inbox/outbox before this because i ffelt it was an invasion of my privacy. she then asked me when i got so smart. lol

I believe the parent has the full right to read text messages, if they are paying for the phone. I also think that there should be a reason to check them. Just randomly checking your child's messages, when nothing suspicious is going on, isn't necessary in my opinion. And for those who consider "texting every 30 seconds" suspicious.. I'm normally texting 5-6 people at a time. Does that make me suspicious because I'm texting several people at once? I've nothing to hide, so this doesn't really bother me. The thing that would bother me, would be the distrust between my parents and I. If they felt they needed to read my texts, or anything like that, I would be upset because I'm not doing anything more than texting friends. If they did have any suspicion, they need to confront me to ask who I'm texting, etc. and I'd gladly tell them.

i dont think it is a bad thing. yes, my parents hover over me wen im on the computer. they read my taxts and ims. yes, it is annoying, but it is only for my own good.

I would first like to say, Caitlin, I thought it was completely pointless and random when a comment was made about you "antagonizing" us. You merely asked our opinion. The people on the CB know there is a teen board and know that some of us often look at threads on the CB. They should've known that at least 1 person from the TB was going to comment.

As far as my opinion towards parents monitoring their kids, I guess I'm undecided. Obviously as a teen, I believe I deserve my privacy. But I guess I understand where the parents are coming from. I have nothing to hide, so whatever, go and check the websites I've been on. But unless they really suspect that something is going on, it’s sort of unnecessary for my parents to check my texts, e-mails, etc. What will you find in my text message inbox/ sent messages? Me talking to my friends about plans, and other things, nothing to worry about. What about my e-mail? Well there you'll find messages from the Dis saying who's replied to what threads and messages from Facebook telling me of any new notifications/ message I've received.

So go ahead monitor me, I have nothing to hide. But to a certain degree, realize when you were a teenager you wouldn't have wanted your parents invading your privacy either.

If my parents read my texts I would be pissed. When I saw that thread I just went through my texts to see what they would find and it wasn't good ahaha. But still they have absolutely NO right to go through my personal conversation with the people in my life.

My parents don't look at my msn messages,my e-mail and my phone texts.I think.But if they were to,i think they would tell me first.But i hope they trust me enough not to look at them.

My opinion on it is that if the parent thinks the kid has a problem, or they can't trust them, then by all means check their texts or emails, etc. But if you're just looking through them for whatever reason, that I'm like...eh, I don't think so. My mom will definitely "take longer" getting something in the kitchen when I'm on the computer (especially Facebook ) to see what I'm doing. And occasionally the DIS posts go to automatic emails to my dad, and he reads them, but my parents and I both know that they can trust me.
As for the CB, yeah, I really don't post there anymore. Not like I ever did very often to begin with, but they can totally drive you away. It's like we don't have our own opinion because we're younger than them. And I know people in my town and stuff who are like that too. It's really annoying
