What are you running now?

I feel lost. I don't have anything I'm training for. I'll be having some more surgery in mid February that should be minor. I'll probably be out for a few weeks, not sure how I'll feel after, might possibly have to start from scratch again, don't know. Regardless, I don't know what to run now. I'm the kind that has to have a plan. I thought maybe two 3 milers and a LR of 6 each week until surgery. I just know I want to run the Peachtree 10K in July, TOT 13K in October - they seem so far off! I just feel like I have nothing exciting to train for! And I'm a tad jealous that DH is training for his first full in March, although I'm quite proud of him. I think I have post half marathon blues. :confused3 :sad2: :lmao:

There's a 5k in town on Valentines day. I'm thinking about running that with my DD but it's really hard to get fired up for it or even think about training for a 5k.

I have found that if I don't have something on the schedule training kind of "disappears" LOL!

I have the Breast Cancer half in Feb (there may be a conflict there so we will see) and the Country Music Half in April.

Then Peachtree and then we start all over getting ready for Disney! May try to squeeze Race for the Taste in there too....

Post-race blues are pretty normal, especially for a half or the full, even more so (I suspect) for a "destination" race. I generally try to plan out everything for the next year during December (or earlier) just to avoid the "I don't feel like running" feeling.

So, at the end of 2007, I made my 2008 schedule: Disney 5k, Goofy, Trailbreaker Marathon (race was canceled, ran Lake Geneva Marathon instead), Sunburst Marathon, USAF Marathon, and Lakefront 50k. I added a couple 10k and 5k races when they were local and I didn't have anything else to do that weekend.

For 2009, I have Illinois Marathon, Running Fit Trail marathon, Race for the Taste, and again, some local 10k and 5k races. I might make the Lakefront 50k again, but it's a couple weeks after RFTT, and so I may not be able to get away for it.

Anyway, back to point - if you are fighting the post-race blues, find a race, even if it is months away, register and tell everyone you are going to do it. That should help keep the running fires going.

I'm looking for any and every race! :( Ok maybe not every race... but I need to keep consistent! Don't think I'll be running anything outside though until at least March. It's freakin COLD out there! :)

disneygirlinnj--I assume you live in NJ from your screen name...where abouts do you live? There are some great races in NJ...my longer race will be the Long Branch half at the end of April/beginning of May. They also have a marathon at the same time, but it is a double loop course and don't think I could handle that!

I dunno...maybe I should run the County Music Half. I wonder if I could pull that off after having surgery in February... How far a drive is that from ATL?
Have you run that before Carol? I wonder if it is any fun? I think Cecilia has run this?

3.5 to 4 hours drive.

I haven't run it. I will warn you Nashville tends to be hilly.

I lived there for 20 years before moving to ATL so it's an excuse to go visit my friends!

I've been told that the course has changed from last year - that it's not as "hilly". We'll see. Shan, there are going to be quite a few DISers there. You need to come on down (or up or around). :teeth:

It's Nashville.... it's not going to be that flat! Just not possible.

True. :teeth: The ladies said that the hills are going to be more of the smaller "rolling" hills vs. the larger hills from the past course - whatever that means. Maybe they were just pulling my leg so that I would sign up. Hey, I did San Francisco - Nashville can't be that bad....is it?

I think I'm having post race blues too. I don't think we'll be able to fit Disney into our budget for 2010, so we won't have that to look forward to. I feel like if I don't have a race or two planned, I won't be motivated to get out and run (especially in the bitter cold weather we're having up here right now).

My next race is the Yuengling Shamrock Half Marathon in Virginia Beach. I'm going with 3 other girlfriends. Then it's the Lehigh Valley Half in Allentown, Pa, in May and probably MCM in October. And I'm doing two sprint tri's in August!

But I'm skipping Disney next year:sad1:

DH says he can't take off any more days for the Country Half, we've already got spring break planned and a trip with my parents in May.

I wish we could do Marathon Weekend in 2010, but we've promised the girls NYE at WDW. I tried to talk them into Thanksgiving week instead and they disapproved. :lmao:

I know what you mean about having to have a race or something scheduled to keep you motivated so do I. As far as big races I have the Princess Half on schedule for March. I do have a local 5k I need to register for and that is on Feb 8. Last year I knew I had the 2009 full to look forward to but for right now I am not going to register for the full in 2010 but most likely will before it gets to capacity (since it seems to stay open for a long time) I want to see what 2009 brings before commiting. I am sure there will be plenty of local small races to keep me busy

Right now, the only race I am looking at is possibly doing the Mercedes Half in February. I have a friend that has done it from school so at least I will know someone there. Other than that, there is nothing else on tap.

Ed, you will have to let me know if you get your race up. If there is anyway possible, I will come down and help support you. Either running in or help with volunteering, just let me know.

I'm running a fever from all the money Disney sucked out of my bank account. :rotfl2:

Skipping the Great Aloha run, too expensive for a 8 1/4 mile race. Too crowded as well.

Doing a 6 person co-ed Swamp Romp in February with friends. 5.5 miles, several mud pits.

Tin-man Triathlon in July.

Disneyland Half in August/Sept.

Honolulu Marathon in December.

Possibly bandit some runs to save some money on registration. I have no more drawer space for t-shirts! :lmao:

The National Marathon to Fight Breast Cancer 1/2 in Feb

The ESPN 5K in Feb

Gate River Run in March

Playing Bike Medic for the Princess 1/2

maybemaybeMaybeMAYBE the 1/2 Ironman in WDW in May.

AFAC Tri in Sept

ToT. Maybe the RFTT.

Mickey next year.

I would LOVE to make the excuse to do the DL 1/2, but I just can't pull it off this year. Or Chicago. Hopefully I can do those in 2010.

Well my Race for the Taste may have taken a blow.....

Randy wants to do either Chicago or NY and wants me to come with him. Chicago is the weekend of Race for the Taste :( Since neither of these have halfs, I will be doing either the cheering!

I'm in Bergen County too...Hackensack to be exact. What about you? I've heard about the Long Branch half. Not sure if I'll be ready for that though since I'll I've done so far is 5 miles. I was looking at a site that lists all of the races in your area and there were a few 10k's, 5k's, etc that seemed fun. I'll have to find the link again and give it to you!
