What Are You Reading Right Now?

I started "Living Dead in Dallas" by Charlaine Harris yesterday and finished it today. I'm about 90 pages into "Eclipse" by Stephanie Meyer tonight, too. I should finish that one tomorrow or Friday morning.

I started another thread about this book. Yes, I admit, a friend wrote it but it really is good. I have given it away as gifts and people who don't know her really like it. It is mystery set both in ancient Egypt and modern times. It is her first book and she is going through a really hard time right now. Her mother died, she was unjustly fired from a job she loved by a couple of back stabbing liars and her health isn't good. Anyhow, it is available on Amazon.com or I also have some autographed copies. It is also on Barnes and Noble. It runs about $10

And, it has a kitty in it based on my kitty!

I am about half-way thru Up Close and Personal by Fern Michaels.

Easy read

I just have to say, I have read several books in the past couple of weeks that were recommended on this thread, and I have LOVED them all! I am so happy to have found some new authors to read. Jen Lancaster in particular is hilarious!

Keep the suggestions coming!

Oh I'm SO glad you enjoyed her! She has a new book due out next Spring. I'm looking forward to it. I enjoyed Jennifer Weiner and Sophie Kinsella in many of the same ways I enjoyed Jen Lancaster.

I just ordered the audiobook of The Nanny Diaries from paperbackswap. This will be my first foray into audiobooks. I just needed a little something different for my commute.

This is totally embarrasing......I'm reading Gossip Girl books. I'm reading them veraciously, I'm finishing one every two nights. It is beyond strange, I can't stop. I'm an avid reader, but normally only classic literature and some true crime, before I picked these up, I read Crime and Punishment, and before that In Cold Blood, and before that The Republic. I'm 32 years old and I'm checking out books in the young adult section!

I guess I needed a break from the tough stuff. These books are not even remotely well written. I think I like them because they are like Candace Bushnell's books without the graphic smut, these books are more smut lite. They also remind me of my teen years, and how wonderful and carefree my life was then. Maybe I'm beginning a mid life crisis?

Just finished the Kite Runner (fantastic read) and will start the Thirteenth Tale this weekend

I just finished The Friday Night Knitting Club.

It was OK. I thought it was very draggy in the middle of the book. I also thought the author was trying to portray the characters (especially the main character) as being very strong woman, but I didn't agree with that all the time.

If someone asked me if I would recommend it I would say that if they had nothing else to read then to pick it up but don't knock your socks off trying to find it to read it. ;)

JMO though - I know someone else on this thread said that they loved it.

I just finished The Dangerous Days of Daniel X by James Patterson. YAWN... While it only took a few hours to read, it points to his quest to deliver book after book without regard for it being any good. This is considered young adult and if this is what our youth are reading, I'm afraid.

For those who found Breaking Dawn to be far-fetched, that was nothing compared to Daniel X.

I'm off to the library. 5 books have come in from my reserved list. I'll be reading Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris shortly.

I just finished reading The Beach House, and I LOVED it! It was a very quick read, and I'm looking forward to reading more of this author's work. :)

Forgot to add in my previous post that next up for me is The Historian. I've heard good things about it from these boards. Hopefully, I'll enjoy it.

I'm reading Judge and Jury which I think is the same author as The Beach House. It's pretty good. On my nightstand to read next is Angel Mine by Sherryl Woods.

I liked this book so much that when I saw a hardcover version in The Christmas Tree Shoppe last week for $2.99, I bought it so I'd have a copy on hand to read again. The first time I read it, I borrowed it from a friend of mine.

right now I'm reading on:
1. The Portable Atheist
2. Furies of Calderon (Book 1 of the Codex Alera) --by Jim Butcher (for the first time)
3. New Moon -- Stephenie Meyer(what what is probably the 100th time )
4. Choke -- Chuck Palahniuk (for the first time)

I just finished reading John Barrowman's Autobiography "Anything Goes" so that took 1 book off my plate!

That's good to hear. I just started it while waiting for DD to get her allergy shots at the Dr., so I'm only about 15 pages in so far.

I just finished "Annie's People", the trilogy by Beverly Lewis, stalking the board for some new ideas......

I just started " Long Way Round ". I stumbled upon the television documentary a few weeks ago. Ewan McGregor and a friend on motorcycles from London to NY via Siberia. Interesting read :)

I just started The Time Traveler's Wife. I'm a little confused but so far so good. I just finished Breaking Dawn.
