How was this? It's on my "To Be Read" bookshelf at home.
My favorite book by Christopher Moore (and close to an all-time fav) is LAMB: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal.

I really enjoyed it. I got it from my brother. We have a good time discussing who/celebrities should play the characters if it was ever made into a movie.

Prepared for Rage by Dana Stabenow.

She usually writes about Kate Shugak in Alaska which I love, but these books (the first was Blindfold Game) are more along the lines of spy/thriller. It is taking me awhile to warm to the story. My dad thought Blindfold Game was terrific and he is more the spy-genre reader.

I'm reading FEARLESS FOURTEEN by Janet Evanovich. I absolutely love her Stephanie Plum books. Just too funny, providing you like naughty humor!

Her MOTOR MOUTH & METRO GIRL were good too!

I just finished Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella, I like her books because they are light, quick summer reads. It left me wanting more of the story!
Next I want to tackle the Harry Potter series, a little late, my kids have finished the series ages ago, and then onto some classic literature is on my agenda starting with The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway...

I've got about 100 pages left in The Devil Wears Prada. I really enjoyed the movie but the book is SO much different. I'm really liking both of them for what the both are.

Has anyone read Silence of the Lambs? I liked that movie so much that I've been afraid to ruin it by reading the book. I've read everything else by Thomas Harris and have enjoyed everything. But, after the butchering of the movie Hannibal compared to that book, I'm afraid to read SotL because I know the book will be so much better. So, please convince me to either finally read it or to never read it.

ETA: I purposely won't watch Hannibal Rising because I enjoyed the book and I'm certain that the movie would be awful.

I finished two books over the weekend. I finished up Club Dead by C. Harris. I also read Faces of Fear by John Saul. It was a fast read. A typical book by John Saul but I enjoyed reading it.

I just started Snow Flower & the Secret Fan. It is really good so far. I was cringing over the Chinese custom of foot binding though!

SOTL is a super creepy book. I read it at the beach when it was first released because my Mom had it recommended to her for me by someone that had just fininshed it. Wow! I have to say it is one I have never re-read, which is odd for me. While Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins were supurb, the book, as usual, is so much better.

You & me both. I ended up "googling" Chinese foot binding because I kept thinking that what I was picturing could not be what they were doing. :scared1: I couldn't believe the pictures.

One DD will not read the book because she said she almost vomitted when she saw the picture & knows she couldn't get through the descriptions!!!

Great book though. I really enjoyed it. Was a also a very different read for me.

Jodi Picoult Plain Truth
I really enjoyed this book. One of my favorites that she has written.

I'm still reading The Historian. It took me quite a while to get into it, but I'm starting to enjoy it now.

See, that's what I told you about that book. It starts slow, but then the story gets really good. IMHO, of course.

I'm reading Fluke by Christopher Moore right now and LOVING it :D I think I found my new favorite author :D

what is that one about - The Historian?

It's about a professor and his DD. He learns of things concerning Vlad Dracula from his mentor and his DD learns about Vlad from him. The story is about the search for Dracula and his gravesite. They travel through Turkey, Hungary, Bulgaria and France in their quests. That's a very high level overview since the book is about 650 pages.

The book is what set me off into my vampire genre reading.
