Hi all  What are you putting in your kids Easter baskets this year? I'd love some ideas! I don't want to put to much candy in my dd's basket - she is a candy-holic and will eat every piece right away!
My ideas so far (she is 2) :

New Mickey Mouse clubhouse DVD
Bubble Bath
A small stuffed Bambi (her current obsession)
I will probobly get a small chocolate bunny and a few other candy items
some colored eggs

I don't know what else. Maybe some bubbles and new crayons.

DD5 is allergic to peanuts, so no chocolate. I have to search for safe jelly beans, but I don't think that she even likes them...!

DD5:
Barbie Fairytopia Magic of the Rainbow dvd
Peter Pan figurine set from the Disney Store
stuffed Ballerina Bunny
Belle Polly Pocket
Rainbow Magic fairies sticker book
Easter sticker book

DD 1.5:
Sesame stickers and sticker book
Peter Rabbit stickers from Target $1 spot
stuffed bunny
Snap n Style baby doll
Princess baby doll (small)
Easter sticker book

Both girls are also getting hair pretties, sidewalk chalk, and Gymboree bubbles

My little 5 yr old will be getting the special kohls exclusive Easter Little Pet Shop, Cinderella III Dvd, and in the Easter Eggs we will put the disney pins for trading at the parks and disney dollars!

I normally get new sand toys, but he doesnt need any this year.
Prob some new bath toys.
Very little candy.
Not sure what else, but Im sure there will be more lol.

I also got the Easter doodle pad that is cute, but i already gave it to him lol.

DD6 loves Peeps chicks. I found a four-pack of stuffed Peeps, Peeps bubbles, a Peeps coloring book, Peeps coloring poster, Peeps tattoos, a candy-filled Peeps egg and a large Peeps microbead pillow. Guess I should get her some actual marshmallow candy Peeps as well, lol.

So far I've gotten DS4 an airplane shaped basket and a set of four dinosaur eggs with Matchbox cars inside. I'll get him some more transportation themed stuff. I'm hoping to find him the Monsters Inc Cars cars. Otherwise, no ideas. Glad I have a few weeks...

You guys have such normal children! Two of my boys want smoked oysters, two want their own jar of sunflower seeds, they all three want Reese PB eggs, and Browns football jerseys!

Disney jibbitz for their crocs!

Theyn always get those eggs with their names on them, bubbles, stickers, washable markers, skipping ropes, hair stuff & pretty much whatever Disney gear the dollar store has. LOL

We always get a new bathing suit, goggles, a book, a movie and sunglasses. A little bit of candy, sometimes, new t-shirt, a very small stuffed animal. Alos have done bubbles, sidewalk chalk, Color Wonder, coloring books.

Haven't got much yet...haven't even got the basket, etc to make DS#2's basket. The easter bunny just fills our basket at our house. Instead of buying new baskets every year...when DS#1 was a baby, I bought a nice basket and decorated w/ribbion, spring flowers (very small), etc etc. Every year the bunny fills it. We leave it out on the couch for him and he fills it overnight. So I have to go out this week and get the basket for DS#2. I actually think I still have the left over flowers, etc from DS #1's and I think I know where it is...so they could match. I need to get it ASAP, as we head out of town on Monday to go to WDW til the 3rd!!

Anyways...all I have so far is 2 Webkinz for 5 year old. I got the koala and pug. I planned on getting somethings while at WDW and shipping them home. Not sure what else. No clue on DS #2...want to get a baby einstein DVD. I need to think of some practical things I need for them anyways.

I haven't done mine yet but we do all the "spring/summertime toys" that I would have ended up getting anyway. Jumpropes, sidewalk chalk paddle balls, frisbee, tennis balls and wiffle balls, jax etc. Most of it I can find at the dollar store, or 5 below and if not I hit Target.

I just bought seven (yes SEVEN) DVDs from Walmart's $5 rack for DS14s basket.
Figure it gives him something to do over Apr vacation and later when Im away for a week.

For those with little ones, Fisher Price makes some adorable Little People for Easter.

Any bunny-replacement ideas for when you have one child out of three who does not like chocolate bunnies? :confused3

Wow - I'm feeling major culture shock!!! OK, this is my first time approaching a "flame-able" comment, I fear...I read this thread because I had never heard of children being given Easter presents in the form of Easter baskets, we just used to baskets to collect eggs at a hunt. I have 8 year old twin boys - we have a fun egg hunt (yes, they're chocolate eggs), and then one of their grandparents does usually give them a small (but tasty) chocolate egg. After the hunt, it's off to church, and we usually have a lovely family dinner together.

Have I missed a major shift? Is the Easter gift-giving more of a US trend or is it common in Canada too? How about the UK?

I know you are all doing this out of love for your children, and if this is your custom, I hope you all enjoy it together. Are birthdays bigger too? What about other holidays? We have really turned Valentine's into a friendship celebration rather than a chocolate marathon both at home and at the boys' school. Hallowe'en seems big on the decorating, but ramping down on the pig-out. I'm just really surprised at the Easter turn of events.

Don't anybody tell my mother...she'd freak!

My kids just get some small things- mostly candies and of course I get them each a Webkinz. But they arent used to getting toys as we have always kept Easter small and more about the dinner ;)

TWINMUM...I'm with you! I live in Canada and I can't speak for the whole country but I certainly don't turn Easter into Christmas!

We usually do an egg hunt for the youngest (5) and then Easter baskets with yes...CANDY! Not too much....usually a small rabbit and a few chewy candies to go with the chocolate eggs form the hunt.

I have 2 older "kids" 16 and 19 and they still get baskets too because they love it but again we go for quality not volume.

Oh, and I do usually include a tiny stuffed toy for the little one...a little chick or bunny.

i am 33 and we always got gifts in our baskets growing up. So did my friends growing up. my hubby is from LA area and he got gifts too. Not sure, but most people I knew got a small amount of candy and a few toys/prizes. my kids always get swimsuit, flip-flops, one summer outfit, books, small toys (like a barbie/power ranger action figure), shampoo, toothbrush, and a very small amount of candy. Their cousins have gotten gameboys, and other big ticket items. We try and keep it to under 30 per basket (including clothes).

My ds3 is allergic to dairy, tree nuts & peanuts so I don't do alot of candy either. Although I did find a bunch of prefilled eggs that are safe for him for their hunt that I am going to get.

I get them outdoor toys (I have 3 kids-5dd, 3ds & 1dd) but not chalk since we have tons of it but some kind of tossing thing.

My oldest I get some kind of jewels. Last year I got them these flashlights that hold sweet tarts. They still play with them & ask for them to be refilled from time to time.

I might get them this blow up pool from Target that is $30 (or I will get it for dd's birthday in May). It has 2 slides to it & my oldest it getting a bit big for the kiddie pool plus I need to stretch out in it too :rotfl: .

Bubbles or a new bubble machine.

Mainly out door stuff & things that I can throw away with out them missing it.

I guess I better get started.

I always do Disney-themed baskets because we always go to WDW about 2-3 weeks after Easter (after the crowds have thinned out).

I put in them:

Disney dollars
regular disposable cameras
waterproof disposable cameras
WDW pins
Disney Easter plush
new Nintendo DS games (for the car ride down to WDW)
I always get DD the new Birnbaum's WDW Kids travel book

I can't think of anything else right now.
