What are you packing for Dec?

Okay, I know I have a bad case of OCD with Disney planning. Instead of doing my paperwork I am sitting here debating what my DD should wear on Dec. the 10th and whether or not it will be a 2 outfit day :cutie: ! Seriously, I am at risk of forking over major cash at curbside check-in with the amount of clothes I'm piling into suitcases (yes I've had a suitcase out for about a month:rolleyes: ). I'm really at a loss to what I should bring in terms of clothing. I know the weather is quite unpredictable...so that means I am packing everything from shorts to sweaters and light jackets. I also have all these ideas for holiday outfits/ hats for photo ops. Then there is the princess paraphenalia (although she refused to wear her dress for CRT last year). All I can say is thank goodness we are flying SouthWest! Anyone else in the same boat? Any suggestions? Thank you!!!

Yes in the same boat - I started packing for our Nov 15 trip about 2 weeks ago. LOL.

I did find what has helped me is to make a spreadsheet of what parks what day, and then I work on outfits from there. I am waiting for the weather forecast to really work it all out, but in the meantime, I can play with options on "paper".

We wear pants and a short sleeved shirt during the day, and have a fleece jacket for evening/morning. I also pack a few lightweight long sleeved tshirts to put under the short sleeve shirt and fleece in case it gets really cold at night. I've read about people bringing hats and mittens, but we've never needed that. I make sure my kids fleece has a hood in case they might need a hat. It can get up to 80 during the day, but there isn't as much humidity in the winter so we weren't uncomfortable with pants on. Shorts would have been fine during the day, but definitely pants at night.

yes, I am already stressing.

We have been to DW in November twice. The days are very nice and comfortable but the nights...... eek! I am very cold natured but even my husband needs a light jacket. I would definitely take gloves and a hat for the little ones.

Yeah, we will be there from 12/9-12/16 and I'm worried about the clothing situation too. I only allocated 1 suitcase for BOTH my girls (I know, dumb!) so I'm going to have to pack smart! Not to mention all the exra stuff we will bring home...... Maybe I should go online and order another suitcase! I say make sure to have jeans for everyone, as well as some shorts and such. Layering is the key. I don't know the ages of your kids, but if you layer in the morning, and then take a shirt off or whatever in the afternoon, you can just throw it in the stroller!!

Have a great trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I pack at the last minute so I can see what the weather is going to be, but I'm planning on jeans, mostly long-sleeved t-shirts but a couple of short-sleeved shirts as well, and a hoodie that can be worn in the morning/evening and tied around my waist in the afternoon. No princess paraphernalia, thank goodness! ;) No holiday/photo op outfits either, unless we do something like everyone wearing the same color t-shirt for one day. Since we're staying at BC, I'm packing a bathing suit for DD just in case. A couple of pairs of shoes per person. No shorts - the other times I was there in December, it was never warm enough to want them.

We have been to Orlando (Universal) in Dec and had evening temps in the
40s. SInce the pools are heated, of course my son wanted in. We were sure a sight sitting by the Hard Rock pool drinking hot chocolate, wrapped in beach towels while my son had a ball playing in the pool!!! I think that is the trip I bought my Grinch hat & gloves--and yes, I wore them to the parks in the evenings.

We're doing a 7-day caribbean cruise followed by WDW for 10 days, so yes, I'm a bit stressed about the whole packing situation. I have been reading up on how to pack light but it's probably not gonna happen :lmao: . We will definitely be having laundry done on the ship and will be doing laundry at the resort too. No getting around that since there is no way I can pack that many clothes. I do not think I will be packing jeans though, (maybe one pair per person) ,as they are too bulky. DH will have khakis and I will just wear capris most of the time. I also have thin long sleeve shirts that can be layered, and we bought thin rain coats from disneystore.com a while ago that can go over fleece, or whatever, if needed (there are always ponchos too, hopefully it won't rain much). So for us, having things we can layer (including fleece) will be key. I am probably going to have to lay everything out on the bed, and then put half of it away if I want to stay within the limits and not spend $$ on extra weight or luggage fees. Really looking forward to a great trip, but, Ugh, not looking forward to packing! I guess I could have worse things to complain about though. ;) :)

We took layers for DGD4,for the "Princess" days we packed a long sleeved T or turtle neck and tights or leggings to be worn under her costume until it warmed up during the day, then we removed them during potty breaks as needed. We put a zip-lock baggy with cap, gloves and a set of thermal undies in the basket below her stroller just in case. We also had a fleece throw that worked really well while she was in the stroller, if she was cold she wrapped up, if it was warm she sat on it like a cushion. We flat packed her clothes in the order she was going to wear them, last day on bottom of suitcase up to first day. Since her clothes are small they really didn't have to be folded and didn't wrinkle laying flat in suitcase, this also make the AM easier her clothes were the next item in the bag. Layering is the key for the colder months.

December is a really hard month to pack for. I packed a few t-shirts, a couple pairs of shorts, sunscreen and swimsuits, but added in two pairs of jeans, hats ( the mickey ear hats work great ), gloves and a couple of sweatshirts for everyone. That plus what we had on during the flight down was enough to get us through 2 days of 90 degree weather and 5 days of high's in the 50's. It was unbelievable how the weather turned on a dime while we were there.

Thank you everyone for the great for helpful advice and the empathy :goodvibes . I do think I'll pack more capris than shorts and the light weight fleece jackets/blanket were great ideas. I am not sure if I'll pack the Princess gear as DD(3) has declared she is "too shy" for BBB. This gives me a good start...I think I am going to do like TexasBee and make a list on paper for each each day and finalize it when the forecast comes out. Thank you everyone!!! Now maybe I should figure out what I am wearing to work tomorrow :rotfl: Anyone else so much more organized with trip planning than in there every day lives?

I don't know the ages of your kids, but DS8 and DS9 have pants with zipper-off legs that turn into shorts. I am not sure what they are called but they sell them everywhere. They will probably wear them on the way there or the way back. Since we are from Chicago pretty much any weather we get in Florida will feel like summer. Anything over 50 and they will want to be swimming.

December is a tricky one! Last time I went in Dec ('06) I packed jeans and l/s tops and only a couple of short sleeved items. BIG MISTAKE! It was so hot...swimsuit weather! Less than a month later I returned for the PPP and brought what I needed for December...and well...it was COLD most of those days! A couple of nights it was sooooooooooooo cold we skipped EMH. It was literally freezing outside! I'll mix and match it up I guess. Some shorts, some pants, s/s and l/s. This is gonna be a pain to pack...I can see it now! :lmao:

Another stress packer here, lol...
We are also visiting in December, and I'm already thinking of things to pack.
I am really hoping to get away with just packing pants for all of us, and then an assortment of different shirts... short sleeve, long sleeve, and a few sweats / fleeces.
Even if it is warm, if the humidity isn't too high, I think we would be comfortable in pants?
For me, a big space saver is if we are only wearing pants, then it limits the types of shoes I need to bring... If I pack capris & shorts for myself & dd's, then we will also need flip flops, sandals, crocs, etc... But, if we are only wearing pants, then we'll each just need 2 pairs of tennis shoes. Sounds silly,
I know, lol.
We will have a washer / dryer, so another attempt to save space is to just take a few pair of pants for each of us, and wash them every few days. That will leave me more room for a different shirt to wear each day.
Jeans, especially for the adults can get really bulky and heavy.

We did take our girls to the fabric store, and let them each pick out a disney fleece, and we made them a small blanket, to keep in the stroller, for night when it gets chilly, and they need to snuggle up. They were very excited!!
I guess ultimately, we'll have to wait until it gets closer, and we can keep an eye on the weather... but, until then, I'll keep obsessing over it, with all of you!:)

OK, I was just looking at the AOL weather for December and they give adverages. In the beginning of December the adverage high is 76 and the low is 65. By the end of December the adverage high is 72 and the adverage low is 51.

I grew up in the Disney area, that being said, December is pretty freaky I remeber christmas when ist was so cold we had small amounts of snow flying but of course nothing stuck but then there were christmas' that we were running around riding bikes in shorts! That being said I think packing an assortment is a good idea. Capri's are a wonderful idea! We are going in November and I am packing pants and long sleeve shirts. We are already going to have decent coats with us as we are leaving from Michigan and most likely the snow will be flying here. At least wet season should be over except for the daily shower beteewn 3 and 5 that seems to come everyday.
