This is our first trip to WDW as a family and it's our 10 year anniversary. The wife and I went to WDW last in '01 but we've never really eaten at a nice restaurant there. We're gonna be in WDW for at least four days and we're wondering where to eat. Right now Chef Mickey is the only one on the list. Should it stay on this list? Kiddies are DS7 and DS5. Please list your four MUST VISIT restaurants.

1 - Le Cellier
2 - Kona Cafe
3 - Chef Mickey's
4 - Biergarten

These seem to be four that we do every year. There are many, many other restaurants that we enjoy, but can skip for a trip and not be heart-broken.

Our DDs are similar in age to yours and while ours are girls and yours are boys, I think that my choices would be similar if I had boys...

Chef Mickeys - The food was good, not great, but the characters were really what we were there for. They were all very attentive, especially Donald.

50s Primetime Cafe - I cannot say enough how great that place was! The kids loved seeing us parents get in "trouble", lol. The food was really good, too.

Crystal Palace - We liked seeing the Pooh characters and we thought the dinner food was very good. Can't wait to try the breakfast this next visit!

Ohana for breakfast or Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner- We like enjoying one meal family style and both have good food I think. During vacation sometimes we get eat-out burn-out and the types of food here make us forget its restaurant food, its more like home cooking, especially LTT.

Ohana is our must do. The kids loved it and so did we. The other one that I would love to do again is Chef Mickey's.

For us Chef Mickey's is our #1 must. It is the only restuarant we have done on every one of our trips and always will. We usually do it twice (0ne breakfast and one dinner) but when we only do one we do breakfast. It is so great and you and your kids will love it!

To finish the list...
Wispering Canyon Cafe- We love the food and really love the fun! We do this for dinner on our arrival night every trip and it kicks off our trip perfectly!
LeCellier is so good, there isn't the fun aspect but the food is soooooo good.
Wolfgang Puck Express, Same as above, not fun and DIsney-feeling, but our best meal hands down. We left Cali Grill saying we wished we had gone back to WPE instead.)

Our 4 must do's are:

Crystal Palace - dinner, for me I love this place.
Whispering Canyon Cafe - dinner, for DH it is his favorite.
Chef Mickey's - dinner, because we fell in love with it.
Le Cellier - dinner, WOW is all I can say!

For us it's

1. Chef Mickey's
2. Cinderella's Royale Table (Fairytale Dining)
3. Boma
4. Akershus or Cape May Cafe Breakfast (too close to call)

Chef Mickey's is a must do for us for breakfast, not so much dinner. Same with Crystal Palace. Although with your DS's, the Stitch breakfast at 'Ohana may be a bigger hit than CP!

For dinner, I would suggest 'Ohana, Le Cellier, Biergarten and 50's Prime Time.

Coral Reef-your boys would LOVE this and the food has always been great.

Crystal Palace-breakfast

Le Cellier

Kona

If I could only go to one restaurant it'd be:

California Grill (around 8PM or so, depending on when Wishes is, so you can watch during dinner!)

If I get to add more (yay!)

2. Brown Derby for lunch
3. Cinderella's Royal Table (any meal)
4. I love Rose & Crown during Illuminations, but it's not an absolute must do. Out of 20 ADRs for our upcoming trip the first 3 mentioned are at the top along with many first times. One in particular I'm excited about is Narcoossees (around 8PM so we get to watch Wishes at 9!!)

Have fun!!

1. California Grill
2. Jiko
3. Teppan Edo
4. Brown Derby

Close runners up

A. Boma
B. Kona Cafe (for breakfast on the day we leave - I've gotta have Tonga Toast, truly food of the Gods)
C. Fulton's Crab House
D. T-Rex (for my son's sake, not my sanity's! :rotfl2:)

Flying Fish
Il Mulino
Fultons
San Angel Inn lunch only

In no order:

Boma -- breakfast
LeCellier -- lunch or dinner
Plaza -- lunch or dinner
Crystal Palace -- breakfast

Fulton's would be in the top four, but it is not on the dining plan and wasn't sure if you were looking for strictly diningi plan restaurants

I only have one trip's worth to share but my boys are about you sons ages so I feel compelled to respond. My boys LOVED Chef Mickeys and Cali Grill! Chef Mickeys had decent food (nothing outstanding by any means... breakfast food is breakfast food imo) but the characters were fantastic and the photo ops were priceless. My older son still talks about his dessert from Cali Grill... rice crispy sushi... and watching wishes while eating... it really made an impression on him (he was almost 5 at the time).

We went to Coral Reef last time and while my boys did enjoy the fish tank the novelty QUICKLY wore off as it took nearly 3 hours for that meal. That was some of the WORST service I've ever encountered in my life. We were pretty much just dumped there... sat for almost an hour after our meal was finished waiting for the bill. RIDICULOUS! I wish I would have complained but we just aren't complaining-type people.

Honestly we didn't have a bad meal the whole trip so I doubt you can really go wrong. We also ate at Ohanas, Kona, and Tepan Edo... which were all wonderful but not necessarily memorable for my kids but the adults loved them all (if that makes sense?!?!). We are repeating Ohana, Kona, and Chef Mickeys this upcoming trip in March (and trying out Le Cellier, Whispering Canyon, Mama Melrose, and then 1900 Park Fare for breakfast.)

I'm not sure if I have four. LOL

Ohana Breakfast (haven't missed this one in many years)
Le Cellier (if we can get it)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (we love WL)
I used to say LTT but only with the characters (we get to see the characters there next month because CP is closed)

Chef Mickey's, Biergarten, Whispering Canyon & San Angel Inn

My family's 4 would be:
-LeCellier
-Whispering Canyon
-California Grill
-Columbia Harbor House (counter service, but we love it)

HOWEVER with your kids' ages I'd trade out California Grill for Chef Mickeys (we always did the breakfast when the kids were younger). I would probably also switch out LeCellier for Crystal Palace.

Great character meals for two little boys (and the big people too ;)):

1. Chef Mickeys (Contemporary Resort)
2. Ohanas (Polynesian Resort)
3. Tusker House (Animal Kingdom). Note: Character meal only for breakfast.
4. Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom)
5. Cape Mae Cafe (Beach Club Resort)

 Disney would do well to add a Pirates character meal and a Toy Story character meal to their repertoire.

Oh and btw, we've never been but we've heard great things about T-Rex restaurant in Downtown Disney. Nice theming for little boys. ;)
