No, I'm not talking dinner - I'm talking music!

I make myself a new CD every couple of days and it's fun to see what songs I like at that moment - not my favorites of all time, but just what I feel like that day.

Give me yours - and I'll put them on the CD I burn tomorrow! :)

My CD du jour:

1) Dear Catastrophe Waitress - Belle and Sebastian

2) Alameda - Elliot Smith

3) Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes

4) Jackson - Johnny Cash and June Carter

5) Drive - The Cars

6) God is a DJ - Pink

7) Barrel of a Gun - Guster

8) Galveston - Glen Campbell

9) Country Girl - Crosby Stills Nash and Young

10) Gone Away - The Offspring

11) Top of the World - All American Rejects

13) Stop Me if You've Heard This One Before - The Smiths

14) I've Got a Crush on You - Ella Fitzgerald

15) Jolene - Dolly Parton

Give me yours - I'm in the mood to buy some itunes!

Yesterday I burned an album by Corinne Bailey Rae and the day before that I got the Dreamgirls soundtrack.

I'm old! Never heard of Corinne Bailey Rae! What is she like?

She's kind of R&B, soul and jazz. Her album is great - you can check it out on iTunes. My favorite song on the album is "Put Your Records On".

Not burning anything, but I've been plowing through a stack of CD's sent unsolicited for review. So far I haven't found a single one that was listenable. In fact most have been downright horrid--like "Don't quit your day job" and "You suck, get off the stage" bad!

One was probably something someone who likes indie music (aka Victory Records label bands) would like, but I'm not into that. My SIL sent it to me, it's some friends of hers from Buffalo, you'd think after the 15+ years that she's known me that she'd figure out that she and I listen to very different styles of music. :confused3

I'm about to give up and put Sevendust or Bob Marley on.

Anne, he's old and not exactly a star anymore - but have you ever taken a picture of my crush of the past 30+ years - Todd Rundgren??? I always told DH he's the only man I'd leave him for - DH loves him too and told me he's the only man he'd leave me for too!!!:rotfl:

I burned a CD last night. It's IL DIVO - Siempre. It's mostly in another language (Italian, maybe?) but I like it. My mom has it, and it's very relaxing. It's my new bubble bath CD.

Oh man, you are preaching to the choir - I love that album! Not so crazy about their second album, though!

Sorry, no. But it's funny that you mention him. I recently pitched a monthly featurette to my editor where I would do a 600-1000 word piece on a "retro" artist. Rundgren was one of the names I mentioned as a possibility. Others that came up were Tommy Shaw, Meatloaf, Don Henley, Heart, The Cars, The Ramones, etc. It would be a short bio with a "where are they now" type of thing.

The editor hasn't gotten back to me yet, he was going to take it to the publisher for feedback. They keep telling me "We want to cut back on the metal bands and appeal to a wider audience" so I think it's a good possibility.

On that note I'm looking at doing something with Tom Jones next month! :thumbsup2 At least I'm diverse! :lmao:

Well you probably know Todd is a Car now!;) Touring with the new Cars! I've seen them twice - I'd rather hear Todd songs, but I'll take him this way too. They were in Cleveland with Blondie.

I had forgotten about that--but yes I knew. They were supposed to play here last fall (?) at Hard Rock Live, I was all set with tickets and a photopass, and they cancelled because someone was sick or injured. The publicist told me they were going to reschedule, but it's been months and they still haven't, so I'm not holding my breath.

If they even came as close as J'Ville this publicist would let me know, she's really good about that type of thing!

You Learn-Alanis Morrisette
Angie-Rolling Stones
Reflections-Supremes
Juicy-Better Than Ezra
Norwegian Wood-Beatles
Steppin' To The Badside-Dreamgirls Soundtrack
Something More-Sugarland
In The Ghetto-Elvis

As you can see, I like a lot of different sounds...

CONFESSION:

I do not know how to burn a CD.

I tried once--but the CD was blank. It wasn't a music CD..just regular data. But the CD was empty after I did everything.

So I am not burning today, nor do I plan to burn tomorrow. I cannot burn, I tried to learn. No burned CDs for me.

Right now I'm on a bad Killers, Snow Patrol, MCR and Michael Buble kick
