Hi again,
Due to Virgin Atlantic prices rocketting we have chosen to fly with US Airways. We have no information on them, and wondered if anyone has flown with them before and if so what they are like? Meals, movies etc... Any info would be appreciated.

Love and Mickey Ears

We flew to Phiily with US Airways and onto Orlando with them two years ago.

No problems, in fact I remember the seats were bigger than Virgin Ec. Friendly staff, food what you expect, the connection was good, philly is a big airport.

Cheers

Thanks for that, we have always flown with Virgin so were a bit nervous about going with someone else. We have to change in Charlotte I think - have been a bit concerned about having to make the connection.. what if the plane is late etc.. Good to know that you've had a reallly good experience with them.

:-)

Thanks for those links. I'm quite new to the boards and didn't know where to look...
Anyway they were really useful.

I think they are hard to beat on in-direct routing to Orlando from Manchester however seeing your sig would it be right that you would fly from dat der london? If so last time i looked they operated a 767 on the London route which is far from being as good as they A333 they operate from Manchester. I would say the difference may be worth the travel up and overnight stay. The IFE is exceptional which can be paused when you are eating you lunch, something that doesn't happen on the BMI A332 which has a good choice but all channels loop. They have ok meals but have a good kids meal and the 34in seat pitch blows away anything this country in cattle class apart from First choice which is the closest at 33in. Philly airport have built a big new terminal that is designed for the comfort of connecting international passengers and i couldn't fault it in anyway.

I will have a look what they operate these days from the big smoke.

Re-read you have booked.

I have looked an it appears that they use the A333 on the Charlotte route (hope that is right but check your docs for that)

The A333 is my fave plane and US Airways operate a 2-4-2 confg for the seating with 34in seat pitch and brilliant IFE. Ensure you contact US Airways and get a good seat towards the front of the plane (up to 2in better than the back-we traveled in row 10 there and back) and book the kids meals with them too. Here is a link to Seat guru about their craft.

You have to realise that you are not flying direct and this cannot touch Virgins direct service into MCO so you are at the mercy of problems there, I have looked at a few reviews of Charlotte (CLT) and they seem to be almost all favourable stating it is easy to travel through and the staff are very pleasant. I thought the meals were better on BMI than US but you can always supplement that not restrictions are easing. I suspect you wont regret this especially since you are saving a fair wedge to spend on clothes in Orlando

I'm sure your connection will be fine. We stayed with a friend in Charlotte & flew with US Air to down to Disney - they fly about every hour. So I'm sure if you are late you won't have a problem.
