Back away from the pins don't get drawn into their spell.
I am a pin trader. We do not have a 12 step program. You buy pins, you crave pins and you do anything to get more pins. I have been to WDW 9 times this year and will be going back in 15 days. I do enjoy the parks, but I go for the pin events, to buy more pins and to meet up with some of my fellow pin-aholics.
You can buy a lanyard at the parks. Then you spend multiple hundreds of dollars to buy pins. You buy a pin for $10.50 plus tax and someone else sees it and wants to trade it for something you like on their lanyard. Then you go back to the pin booth and buy more of the pin you just traded away.
You also see CM's wearing lanyards. They have pins you like so you go up to them and trade. Now you have to go back to the store and buy more of the pin you just traded away.
You leave your vacation and get home and realize that you spent tons of money and had a great time meeting alot of great people who you would have never spoken to if it wasn't for the pins. Pins are worth it after all.
You can find some pins that are marked down at the Premier outlets. Use these pins for trading with the CM's. You mght find something great on the CM lanyard, WDW produces special CM lanyard pins that you can only get by trading with a CM, they are not for sale anywhere except e-bay.
Some of the pins you buy at the parks are marked Limited Edition. That means they only produce 100, 500, 1000, 2500, or 5000 of these pins. These pins are more sought after and if you really enjoy trading you can use these pins to trade for something someone else has that you like.
Hope this helps a little.
Check out the collector's board. There are tons of great people on that board who will be glad to answer any questions about pins and lanyards for you. See you there. Peggie
