What are these magic bands everyone is talking about?

And how do I know if I will be getting one or not? lol I keep reading about FP+ and these magic bands. Are they the same thing? Someone please enlighten me. Thanks!

Magicbands basically replace your KTTW card. It will be your room key, park ticket, FP, and a way to charge to your room. Depends on when you are going currently it is certain resorts that are testing so if you are staying at the right resort for that month you might get picked to try it out. According to the CM I talked to they are expecting it to go live before the end of the yr. Also I believe if you have the dining plan that info will be on it too. For FP+ you can reserve up to three FP for one park each day.

When you go to your MDE account there is an option to click on it just have to see if they let you do it. It will then tell you what to do.

I just customized our Magic Bands today but not really wanting to make my FP+ selections until we get there. I'd like to base my selections on the crowd levels for the day.

I have been looking for more info about Magic Bands also. We are going in Late November and I think it would be fun to try out!! Can you sign up or do you have to be picked? I have seen all kinds of "customize your magic bands" but I cant seem to find any info...

You have to be selected. It will show up in your MDE if you are selected.

Make your FP+ ressies now. Then download the app and you can change them as you go.

I agree do it now because online people are saying for their MK day they are getting a bonus 4th attraction. Like the PP said you can always change them on your phone while there.

I see you can customize what gets written on the magic bands. Are most people putting names? I was thinking of getting different colors for the kids and putting our cell number on it.

My customization was just colors.

Ok...went back to MDE to add my FP+ selections like you all suggest. Sorry...I do not like this. I cancelled and am going to wait until we get to park. We only want to use 2 FP+ at the HS but it automatically gives us a third ride. We also only need 3 passes for Aeorosmith ride but it automatically gives myself and my three yr old one as well. I think I prefer the regular old FP process. . Maybe I'm missing something.

Not sure about the list. after you log into the MDE account you go down to where it says magicbands and cards and click on it. if you have bands it will give you a message saying to customize and confirm your address too.

What is an MDE account. I know what it stands for but does everyone have one if you have a ressie onsite? I booked AoA yesterday but not via DW, I did it via Cheaptickets.com

We were there last week and were offered the bands before we left. We didn't think we were going to use them and then we gave it a try. We loved them. You don't have to use all the FP but it was nice to know that we had them. We set up ours before we left but we were told that you can change them from any mobile devise that you can get MDE on. We loved them
