What are the pros & cons of booking virgin

We are thinking of booking direct with Virgin for 15 Aug - 3 Sept it will cost £719 each & my dh wants to book but I'd rather wait for the in direct prices's to come down (hopefully). We would be flying from Manchester & i'm looking for reasons to justify flying, or not flying with Virgin.

Reliability and spare aircraft are always factors in our decision, if there is a technical fault, you're usually on the same 'plane fixed or a similar 'plane and not some wreck borrowed from a pool of charter 'planes.

Plus 2 flights a day means any serious problem there is slightly more chance you'll get out or back the same day.

We'd never go indirect as we have two small children too and think Virgin are great with kids. 13 hours of travel wouldn't be an option.

Direct flights to MCO International, not many carriers if any do that from Manchester.

Thanks for your replies so far. We did in direct for the first time last year & it went well. Of course direct is preferable but it only cost us £300.

If you have children we found Virgin excellent once on board. Backpacks, ice cream, kids TV shows.....

Fly direct to MCO, quicker to start your holiday than going to Sanford.

Good when there are problems with aircraft. We had a 24 hr delay in Dec 2008, put up in hotel overnight and given meal vouchers. All sorted out quickly and we didn't have to do anything. Kept informed. We loved this free extra day and had another day in the parks.

Left credit cards in plane last year. They quickly spotted them and made announcements in the airport. We unfortunately didn't hear them and had a message on the phone when we got home. They put them in their safe.

I have confidence in them that if there is a problem they will get it sorted out.

We have travelled with Virgin on each of our Florida trips and would happily use them for the next one.
The biggest plus for us is the level of care they offer via their special assistance department. It has proved invaluable to us in getting our holiday off to a good start.

Thank you for your replies, Stephen will be 13 just before we travel & counted as an adult but will enjoy the seat back TV's. We went with Delta last year & we all enjoyed the seat back TV's for the games. Virgin sound good during delay's & thats a plus for us as we once had a terrible journey with Monarch that would have been made easier if we had been kept informed. Delta were very good last year & the only difference I can see is that we had to change at Atlanta, which was easy. Very easy for £300 v £718.
