This will be our 3rd cruise and we will be on the Fantasy. What are the possibilities we could secure a cabana on Castaway Cay if I tried st the first moment I can?

Unless you're concierge, pretty small. On our upcoming cruise not even platinum could get them.

I'd guess the possibility is slight. There may be a cabana left for Silver members when the window opens. Or not. I'd also suggest - keep checking. Often there are people who book as soon as they can, just to make sure they get one, and then cancel.

Slim to none I'm going to say! We are doing Eastern Carib on the Fantasy in January, I'm silver and my check in window opens this coming weekend. According to my cruise group, when Platinum cruisers checked in there were only 4 cabana's left! So what was left after Concierge, Platinum then scooped up. Nothing left for Gold, nothing left for us Silver cruisers and obviously, nothing left for the newbies. Of course, people cancel so you can always keep checking back.

I'm a gold member and wasn't able to find any for our January cruise.

We were only silver on our engagement cruise. I had no clue when I got the cabana that we were getting engaged just that it was a friends trip. We didn't get one when they first opened but I put on our cruise page that if anyone was canceling to let me know so I could try and book it. Someone decided to cancel and thankfully remembered me. Said of course others were waiting but she'd give me a heads up when she went to cancel just in case I was by a computer. Low and behold when she canceled I was near a computer and was able to snag it.

I am beginning to wonder how anyone outside of concierge gets a Cabana. My window opened July 16th. I logged in at 11:58pm and was ready to click at midnight. There was NOTHING. I am gold. I have been diligently checking the site everyday, multiple times a day, still nothing.

Last week, I thought I could catch a lucky break, with the Hurricane and all the cruises being rerouted, cancelled, etc. Even though my cruise is not til the 29th, I figured some people may get antsy and want to rebook away from the hurricane season. i lived on the DCL website watching for an available cabana to pop up. NOTHING. I figured oh well, everyone is secure in their cabana. Someone on the rerouted 10/7 Magic posted they rebooked to the 29th cruise, that they booked concierge and was able to get a cabana. WTH???? It sounded to me they did all this over the phone, when I have been told multiple times that you cannot book a cabana over the phone, that the phone CM's can't even see the inventory. That makes no sense to me since not everyone on planet earth has the internet, so they must be out of luck completely. So, it seems if you have the money for concierge, a special privilege is you can book over the phone for something the rest of us schmucks have to leave up to impeccable timing and lots and lots of pixie dust.

I gave up on trying for a cabana after that. I will use the money I had set aside for it to try to upgrade our stateroom at the port.

Since they're so coveted by many cruisers, I wonder why more haven't been built? :confused3 Maybe they're meant to be super-exclusive?

They are suppose to be exclusive and if they build more it would take away from the beach space that is "included" in a cruise that stops in Castaway Cay. As far as cabanas go across every place that has them if they aren't hard to get then you can't charge an arm and a leg for them. Places that always have them available can only get 100-200 tops for an entire day and usually make it a good fee meaning you get up to the price of the cabana for free in food and drink. Make it more exclusive and you can charge people and not include food and drink for free.

You can absolutely book a cabana via telephone. With shoreside concierge.

Yes and Concierge also holds one Family cabana back for late or onboard bookings. I'm not sure about the SB Cabanas. Considering the premium Disney charges for their concierge product I can understand why concierge bookings get first dibs on Cabanas. Since demand can be quite high for the concierge cruises it wouldn't surprise me if DCL eventually creates a booking hierarchy based on Concierge category - R's, S's, T's and then V's.

I stalked the site everyday over this past Summer and we were able to snag one a couple weeks before our cruise since someone cancelled! I felt like I won the lottery!

The only time we travelled in concierge ,we had reserved 2 cabanas on the Family beach. My wife, myself and our adult son were staying in the Walt suite for her 60th birthday. We were also traveling with our 3 adult daughter, their husbands/boyfriend and 7 grandkids from 12 -weeks to 6 years. We ended up NOT using the cabanas because the Magic could not dock to to weather. The first time my wife and I had a cabana was when we were silver. I kept checking back and eventually got one on Serenity Bay.

We sail between Christmas and New Years (one after New Years). Out of our four Silver CC sailings - not concierge, twice cabanas on SB were available. I snagged one last year. There was not one for this year's cruise.

What is shoreline concierge?

Shoreside concierge are the people who do the requests for concierge bookings - they work on land as opposed to the ships, hence "shoreside".

If you are in a concierge cabin you will be contacted by them in advance of your 120 day booking window.

If you're like the rest of us commoners, you won't. :flower1:
