What are the points all about?

Please forgive my ignorance, but I have just joined and have no clue what all the points are about. I gather that it has something to do with the Disney Vacation Club (I think that is what it is called). We are making our first trip to WDW the beginning of April and would like to know something about this before we go. Anyone willing to share this secret???

The Disney Vacation Club is a timeshare. It is a points based system instead of a week's based system. Sometimes members have excess points that they "rent" out to other people. If you are going in April, and are interested in renting a member's points, you can check out the rent board and see if anyone has points available.

If you are interested in purchasing your own membership in the DVC, then I would check out Doc's fequently asked questions thread on the DVC forum board plus browse that board for answers to most questions you might have. We are DVC members and love it! I just wish we had more points (the minimum to buy-in is 150 points). Hope this helps!
