What are the pictures you have hanging?

What pictures of yours do you have hanging in your home, office, or other prominent location? Which are the pictures that had the right combination of personal relevance and image quality to make that "elite" set that you printed and hung?

I'm in the process of printing pictures for my office. It's hard narrowing it down to those that will fit on my limited wall space. I think I'm going to print far more than will fit and rotate them. Still, the ones I print are a small subset of the pictures I've taken. Some are my favorites from an image quality standpoint. Others have more personal meaning.

I don't have time this morning to post them here, but I'll do it later today or tonight. I'm curious to see what pictures other people are hanging.

Like you I have limited wall space for my pictures, but we do have a hallway which I have commandeered. One side of the hallway is my "Chicago" wall and the other is "Washington D.C." (where my youngest lives). The D.C. wall contains mostly night icon images (Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson, etc.) The Chicago wall is similar with the addition of museum pictures from the Museum of Science and Industry where I have been a long time member.

I have bunches of photos on the walls around the house - but I have a special area in my study with a half dozen (I change one out ever month or so) that I especially like. I have them professionally printed at 11x17. Right now they are:

2130 on the 'Champs' (Wife's dream trip, it did get me to Normandy on June 6th though!)

I have ample wall space in my office.

One wall contains sports pictures I took. I had the opportunity to score a field pass for my step-son's senior season in football so I rented a 400mm and went to town.

Another wall contains disney images. All but one are images I took - a picture of the ToT, the AT-AT walker, the Indiana Jones tank, some flower shots from in the park, and a shot of my daughter skipping in front of the castle (nobody around because of an early ADR at Crystal Palace). The one shot that isn't mine is a large 16x20 print of the inside loby ToT taken by Cory Disbrow

The third and final wall contains family images.

Too many to count. In my office, I've got a dozen and change - sunsets, wildlife, architecture, travel - a wide smattering of shots. I occasionally get unsolicited sales off of those I display in my office, so I keep the selection varied.

At home, I go by themes. In my bedroom, I've got Asian tropic plant closeups, temples, etc that go with a mellow semi-Balian theme. In one bathroom it's more Thai oriented, so shots that support that style. Another bathroom is more Caribbean tropical, and photos that support that theme. In my den/TV room, it's New York/Industrial/Art Deco. Another guest bathroom is African/Kenya with large game animals. A guest bedroom has birds and local Florida beach/flora. My billiard room has ship/ocean liner themes throughout, with combinations of old ship posters, ship models, and my own cruise ship photos and closeup details. The bar is sports - so no personal photos there as I don't often shoot sports...mostly hockey jerseys and sticks. In my garage, I've got some photos of current and past cars I've owned mixed in with a few exotics or classics from local car shows and auctions. My living room is the only large space that doesn't really have any of my photos in it - it's all collectibles, art, and antiques from 1800's British Empire countries, that I nickname the 'Explorer's Lounge'. And the kitchen has none, mostly because there's nowhere to put any!

The only photos I print are ones of my wife and me. We have those photos all over the house; most are small in size with 3 or so to a frame.

As far as more artistic stuff, while I love photos, I prefer paintings. I think they look better, and I'm generally more impressed by them. That's what hangs in our house.

I have ledge shelves with pictures of the kids on them. When I take a new picture I want to put up there, I decide wich one I have to switch it out with. All the frames are 4x6 or 5x7, so I print based on what's getting taken down. I have one wall where I put the 11x14's of the kids, and they get rotated out the same way. In our "computer room" I have a wall by my desk where I tack up random shots I like. All of the framed art in there is my husband's illustrations.

I had never been able to decide what to put over my fireplace photo wise, we've only lived in the house for 11 years now. There's this huge space that's empty (except for the year I never took the Christmas wreath down.) I finally decided no photos and that I want my husband to do a 3D rendering of our family as Lego mini figs (he's done the kids and many other mini figs before). But it has yet to materialize.

In my office at work I have one of those collage frames. I put some pictures from trips I have taken and some local pictures in it. They are pictures from San Fransisco, Myrtle Beach, WDW, Riverbanks Zoo, etc. It has been up a year and I may get some other smaller frames to go on either side of the big one and add some more pictures. I also have a digital frame on my desk that I have a lot of photos on but I forget to turn it on half the time.

I have a wall in my office that is about one-third covered with my photos, most printed at sizes ranging from 11x14 to 12x18, and all mounted on foam board. Over time, I add more. When that wall is full, I have other walls waiting. I'm a graphic artist, and have an Epson 9800 large-format printer in my office. If I have to print something and would otherwise have an area of wasted paper, I throw a photo in the blank space. My department chairman recently encouraged me to start putting my work-related art and photos on the wall in the hallway outside my office. And scattered around some of the other walls in my office (I have two rooms) are several movie poster prints (from Disney's Tarzan and the 2009 Star Trek to TV series Lost and others) and a few Disney attraction posters.

Most (but not all) of the photos in my office are Disney-specific. One of the large meeting/conference rooms on another floor is lined with large prints of my non-Disney Florida landscapes.

I don't have any pictures I've taken hanging, but I do have small (up to a 5x7 of me, my roommate, and my landlord at Stonehenge) vacation pictures (usually without people) set up on bookcases. Also a picture of my cat.

Along my stairway I have shots of Chicago and Naperville (my hometown). In the main hall, my shots from ocean/beach scenes (dolphins, marine birds, gators, scenes, shrimp boats, waterspout, etc).

I have so many that I love, so most end up on my digital frame in the family room. I did a Nat Geo trip to the Galapagos in February and have a bunch from that trip, and shots of my kids going as a slideshow on the frame. It's an 8 x 10 frame, but am looking to go bigger, a lot bigger!

Its all family potraits in our house. Well unless you count the Bateman print above our couch! Lol, other than that the Billiard room gets all the glory where I have a couple dozen old beer and cigarette framed ads, more family portraits and one painting... my personal all time favouriteThe Kramer

I used to have so many framed snap shots hanging in the hallway people would disappear when they went into it because they'd stop to look.
We've just moved so I don't have much up yet. A framed photo of my Grandma in early 20s, her and my grandfather as a young couple, DH's mother and her sibs and some old pics of us w/oldest DD in MN. These are up because I got around to decorating the den/walk in area which are Northern/Vintage theme.
What I have up in the living room are these shots I did on the 4th of July with my tripod. That quilt top was made by my Great Grandma in the 20s and quilted by my Grandmother in the 80s. I guess you could say what I display is mostly sentimental.

My house is small so I reserve my limited wall space for photos of family.

We have this one in a 20x30 over the fireplace. It's my favorite picture.

We also have this 11x14 in our breakfast room. It's a family shot we did at a resort in Mexico. We took a bunch of "traditional" shots and then made one where everyone was asked to just do whatever the felt like. It's the version I prefer.

In the upstairs hallway, we have a few 8x10 and 11x14 shots upstairs from our pre-digital days. One is a shot of my parent's house. Another is a shot of my wife, myself and some friends on a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. Another is a shot of our canoe in the Boundary Waters.

We also have some 11x14's in the hallway.
Here's a shot my oldest son took with his point and shoot.

I used to have a bunch of 11x14's in our master bedroom, but they were taken down when we painted. I need to refresh them and hang some new shots in there.

We also have these panorama's hanging up in a few nooks in the house. I don't remember the specific dimensions, but I think they're something like 10"x30". Both are pictures along the coast in Pacific Grove, CA.

Many of these pictures stand alone. In other cases, they anchor a collection of smaller (5x7 and 4x6) shots that expand on the topic the main picture covers. I do the printing and my wife does the hanging.

I've never had significant sized prints in my office, just a bunch of 4x6's on my desk and window ledges. I recently ordered these photo wire hangers to use on one of my walls. I think I'm going to use two per column and hang three 11x14 unframed matte prints per pair. If I like the way it works, I'll have four pairs for a total of 12 pictures. Because they are unframed, I'll rotate pictures every couple of weeks. I'm trying to decide what to post there. I was hoping to use this thread for inspiration.

Here are the ones I've printed for the office so far. I'm doing them all as 11x14" prints on 16x20" sheets of Hahnemuhle Matt FineArt Photo Rag. I was never a big fan of matte prints in the past, but I'm loving the look and feel of these. For a print without a mat or frame, I really like the look and feel of this paper.

Other than the typical family shots while on vacation, we dedicated our family room to our Yosemite National Park trip. We enlarged several shots but the one that hangs over the fireplace is the Valley View in Yosemite. We also have a broken tree branch from the park that sits on the mantle. A perfect center piece. Other shots in the room include the Red Woods, Yosemite Falls, and El Capitan.
