What are the oddest items you have put in your checked bag?

This was way before 2011. (Like 1994). And this wasn't checked, but carry-ons.

It was a case of rum.

We bought a case of rum on a Southern Carribbean cruise. Didn't know it at the time, but we were flying home on the one airline that didn't allow booze as checked luggage (United). We disenbarked from our cruise in San Juan at 9 AM, and our flight didn't take off until nearly 6 PM. So we had to schlep through San Juan for six hours with a case of rum.

Now, imagine trying to carry-on a case of rum.

We stay off site and cook ourselves to save money. We have packed a crock pot, frozen meals, pots and pans, spices, strainers, water pitchers, amd other various kitchen items. Video game system and games. Board games. 4 people, 2 free checked bags each .... we take what we can!
