What are the not to be missed rides at DL and CA?

I have taken one short trip (4 hours I think) to DL before but really didn’t know what to do. :confused3 My WDW experience told me to hit Space Mountain, Pirates, and Haunted Manson. And then I wished I bought the park hopper option so I could hit Tower of Terror.

This year while at BlizzCon I set a side nearly a full day for DL and CA. :thumbsup2

For the larger rides we always have to hit space mountain, indiana jones, thunder mountain, haunted mansion and pirates in DL.

In CA, the screamer and tower of terror.

Other than those I would ride everything in both parks...most of them more than once. Including the elephants...

All of them! :cool1: OK -- all Screamin! -- the Rapids if it's hot. I'm not that into Tower of Terror or Indiana Jones. I just don't like to be bumped around. Love the Matterhorn (why no fastpasses for Matterhorn???)...also must get a churro!

There've been a couple of similar threads recently with alot of great information that was offered. Check out the threads below & also many of the links inside the threads:

Also all of Hydroguy's tip threads are worth a read (especially his "DLR for WDW vets" thread"):

You might also find my linked one day trip report (in my signature below) helpful.

Have a great time planning a visit to Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

A PH would definitely be a plus!

At DL: Indiana, Pirates, HM, Splash Mountain, BTMRR, Buzz, Space Mtn, Matterhorn, Nemo, and maybe a few fantasy land rides if you have time.

AT DCA: TOT, Screamin, TSMM, Soarin, and Monster's Inc (ok not that great but cute and not at WDW). Maybe the sun wheel to get a great view of the parks/city!

It's a lot to do in one day though if it's busy at all!

Assuming that you've ridden Toy Story Mania and Tower of Terror at WDW, I cannot recommend a single DCA ride as can't miss if you only have one day because the very best rides or very similar versions thereof in DCA are also found at WDW. In fact aside from a better queue at Soarin' and a better queue and longer ride at Grizzly River Rapids, every DCA attraction also at WDW is either identical (aside from Toy Story Mania's differently themed queues) or not quite as good (Tower of Terror) as the WDW counterpart.

I for one would disagree. I recommend California Screamin and Monster's Inc. to any WDW vet. And yes, GRR is much better than Kali. However, other than that, you might want to focus more on DL.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will be putting together my ride list this weekend with the input from this thread.

There are differences in between the rides at WDW and DL. I personally feel Pirates is better at DL because of the first drop. And I feel Space Mountain is better in WDW, the turns and drops are more intense. Looking forward to comparing the other rides this time around :yay:

humm.. churro's.. Does DL have Dole Whip Floats?

Thanks again.

Yep....Dole Whips & Dole Whip Floats at the Tiki Room. From my trip report:

After the JC, it was time for a fruity refreshment....& we happened to be near a place that specializes in such tasty treats. So we walked around all the people (who don't read the Disboard) standing in the VERY long line outside the Tiki Room & pretended that we wanted to see the show & entered the TIKI room outdoor waiting area. I gave Alec a 5'er to buy us a Dole Whip Float (to share) & told Alec to go stand & order where there was NO line. Funny....as Alec was waiting for his Float, others in the waiting area (who apparently didn't realize they could buy one on THEIR side of the booth) hopped up & created a line behind Alec.

We sat & slurped up our float while listening to the Gods of Rain, Mountains, Thunder & other stuff....doing their schtick outside. It was actually a pretty cool little audio & visual show. When it was time for everyone to go into the Tiki Room show....Alec & I instead headed toward the exit (since Alec didn't want to do this unless he was with Mrs. Hound....since it's her favorite) & as we exited we waived to the Non Dis'ers still standing in the VERY long line waiting for Dole Whips.

I think this is the first time I've ever heard that someone likes the MK Space over the DL Space. :scared1:

It's difficult to answer your question because everyone loves different things.

My favorites:
Jungle Cruise
Pirates (better than WDW)
Small World (although it was better before they re-did it)
Haunted Mansion
Storybookland Canal Boats
Soarin' Over California
Toy Story Midway Mania

Shows I LOVE:
Billy Hill and the Hillbillies
Fantasmic!
Fireworks
If you are into robots, the ASIMO show in Innoventions

BlizzCon... DH has gone the last 2 (3?) years. Enjoy!
