what are the negatives to Windsor Hills?

I think that WH is where my wife booked our stay in late June / early July.... I am guessing it gets quite crowded?

The only thing I can think of is if you're in a condo and using the main pool it might be crowded but that would be the same for any resort at that time. If you're in a pool home then no problem. My grandkids liked the pool at the house more than the big main pool.
You can avoid 192 if you're heading to Disney by taking Sherberth Rd. Just follow the red line #1 on the map.

we do have a pool home.... and I just subscribed to this thread!

We stayed there for first time this past January and only negative for us was their Quiet hours which are from 11pm to 7am.
My husband and I were trying to watch TV while in bed one evening and could hear the neighbors in pool (they were partying) and also got woken up one morning at 7:30am by few screaming kids playing in splash pool, this was worse as they were young and non stop high pitch screams before coffee was not fun :headache:
Keep in mind this was not every night or every morning but just a few times, the TH are close to each other and from main bedroom on back we were able to clearly hear the neighbors but only if they were outside, not thru the walls.
We will go back to WH, plan to rent a house instead of TH and this time we are prepare for the ocassional noise disturbance.
We drove 192 each day to and from parks and found no traffic at all, might be different in summer.

we stayed in a WH townhome with splash pool last June. hard to find a negative, but if i had to find something it would be....

- be sure to take any and all contact info for the onsite maintanance persone for your rental as well as the contact info for the person you arranged your rental with. if you have a question about any malfunction or service this will come in very handy. we tripped a breaker and went without power for 24 hours in a good portion of the house because the contact we had for maint issues was on vacation themselves. having the phone number for the rental agent saved my bacon. once i contacted her it was resolved within the hour.

- driveways at townhomes are very short and narrow. i was in the bushes every time i entered/exited the car.

- the splash pool was sufficient for our needs (a bit chilly even in June) but was a welcome cooling to the Fla july heat. we tried the common pool once but found that we didn't care for the zero entry. great for our then 3 year old but everyone else had to sit on the bottom of the pool to get in deep enough to get anything below their waist wet. it was not very crowded however. we visited it pretty late - around 10pm.

seriously - it was hard for me to even think of those negatives. i understand "to each their own" and some folks just are unlucky and have a bad experience there, but we thought it was great. classy, clean, suprisingly affordable. we would do it again in a heart beat.

We stayed in a villa last time and this time going back to the one next door. I honestly couldn't think of any negatives. We loved it 100%. We are also having a week onsite (AKL) this time before going to the pool home, and although I am looking forward to it, I am looking forward to Windsor Hills more.

There can be noise wherever you stay so i wouldnt point it to this one place. I believe in using white noise to block out whatever noise may interrupt sleep. I always bring a portable fan and put it next to my bed, it makes a good background noise and i never hear anyone when trying to go to sleep or early in the morning. I never stay anywhere overnight without it.

The price! :rolleyes1

Since the homes are newer, and the resort is popular right now, you're paying a premium as opposed to other vacation homes in different area's.

That may change a bit now with the economy and owner having to lower their prices in order to book.

Otherwise we loved WH and highly recommend the property.

i think it depends on the house and the owner. I had a great deal of 4 nights and the owner was going to waive the cleaning fee of $85. i did decide to go with someone else because i found a nicer themed condo for my kids.

Negatives - People in the townhouse next to you that do not follow quiet hours. The splash pool is right under the master bedroom window. We had a younger crowd drinking, cursing and playing music til about 1:30 am.

I'll echo the same thing, while also pointing out that it's not necessarily specific to WH. But, it is specific to townhomes with splash pools. We had the same issue a couple of nights. Neighbors roll in at midnight and their kids are so excited to see the splash pool that they have to try it out. Since your neighbors splash pool is almost directly below the master bedroom you really hear everything going on out there.

It seems like the only real alternative would be to rent a freestanding home. You still might have pool noise at night but there would be a little more buffer space.

Nothing...no negatives for us when we stayed there...other than not wanting to go home afterwards-lol!!

Is the 'neighborhood' so big that you may feel like you were too far from the pool? Many of the rentals I've looked at, it is difficult to determine how far away the clubhouse really is.

And, can you really see the fireworks from the southern facing homes?

We were only 3 blocks from the pool but we drove anyway because my kids were freaked out by the tiny red fire ants that were on the sidewalks...plus when they got out of the pool and dried off they were exhausted!

You can see the fireworks from some of the homes but you have to be facing north since WH is south of Disney. We could see Epcot from the upstairs windows but it isn't really a big deal since they're a few miles away. After the first time we didn't bother to even go look.

It depends where you are. We were in a pool villa and we walked to the clubhouse pool each time. We were 3 houses up from the playground which we found to be a great location. This was a reason why we have chosen the house next door this time.

This is kind of funny... tthe 1st person we talked to at WH wanted to charge us nearly double, as we wanted a Thursday to Thursday stay. According to his own calendar, he didn't have a single booked date in June or July... So we looked around and found a nicer looking home, with much nicer ammenities indoors, for $1300 plus tax.... this house has room for 10 - 12, as it is a 5BR house. We got one that large because we may be taking a few more people that we first thought, and even if we don't, it allows all the kids to sleep in seperate rooms. And, the guy had no problem with a TH - TH rental.

We stayed at WH twice during our trip because it's closer to Disney. I can say that this was one of the nicest place, nothing problem. :lmao:

Are you still in Windsor Hills? Can you provide or PM me the link that you used to rent?
