What are the HARDEST ADRs to get?

Hi all!
I am in the beginning stages of planning a trip for June 2011. We went for our first family trip a few weeks ago, but I planned the trip very quickly. I didn't have much time to think about the ADRs that we really wanted. We were able to eat at a few great places (Jiko, Sanaa, San Angel, Chefs de France, CRT, Artist Point).

We will not have free dining, but may consider buying the dining plan (still not sure about this). We have resort res on-property for now, but that could change.

Anyways, I was wondering what the "hardest" ADRs are to make? It sounds like lots of people try to make plans 180 days out. From what I am reading, it also sounds like that might be necessary.

SO....what are your top most difficult ADRs?

THANKS:)

From what I've read on the Boards the two hardest are Cinderella's Royal Table at the Magic Kingdom and Le Cellier in Canada at Epcot.

Of course they recently opened to new table service places at Epcot, one in Mexico and the other in Italy. These will likely be hard to get bookings while people try them out.

I've heard that most of the Character meals can are considered hard to get as well.

In the two trip that I have used the Dining Plan I found that I did save $40 on the first trip, and over $50 on the second trip. When deciding to use a Dining plan be ware that all meals will include a dessert. Also when picking what to eat on the plan I usually went for a higher priced Item to help get my dollr value on the meal. I've read that some Families with picky eaters have trouble get their moneys worth when going with a Dining Plan. Of course if you get lucky and get it for Free, you would not find me complaining!

LeCellier - I think it will be easier when it goes to 2 credits

Ohana, Chef Mickeys, Askerhaus

Sometimes on Fanstasmic nights the restaurants at HS especially Mama melrose and sci fi

Liberty Tree Tavern

I think some of the most difficult reservations to get are at:

Le Cellier
Ohana's
Chef Mickey's
CRT

I managed to get Ohana's right at 180 days- But I had to get up at 3am PST to get on the website for the 6am EST opening.

Is it wrong to sleep with your laptop?? :rotfl2:

At 180 days or 180+10 you should be able to get everything you want IF you are flexible on days & times. The possible exceptions would be:

leCellier - may be easier for dinner now that it's going to 2TS
'Ohana - always tricky for some reason. Breakfast is more accessible
Fantasmic! dining packages - any time
CRT - seems to be getting easier than it used to be
Chef Mickey's- Can be tough even at 180 days. Lots of great substitutions available (Crystal Palace, 'Ohana, Boma, etc.) if you're not set on seeing Fab Four (or Five?)

I've never found Liberty Tree Tavern that hard to get until if you try early enough.

Thanks:)

Now, I guess my new question would be: what makes these places "better" (or in demand)?

Le Cellier - 3 out of 4 of us are vegetarians (well, some seafood, I think)...is it still desirable? Is it the steak or the atmosphere?

'Ohana - is this the Luau at the Poly?

The only reason I am considering the dining plan mois because my mom is paying for the trip & she thought it might be easier to pre-pay for meals, since we might not always be together.

I really want to do the Hoop-Dee-Doo & the Luau, since I think that she would really like that. Also would like to do CRT or Akershus for my DD.

Otherwise, we just really like good food with an interesting atmosphere:)

THANKS:thumbsup2

I made all of my reservations prior to adding the dining plan. It was no problem to tell the CM that we were on the dinning plan when it was time to pay the bill. The only exception was CRT, which I had prepaid and since it takes 2 TS, I left it as prepaid.

Ohana has a character breakfast. We had dinner at Ohana's which was one of our favorites. The Luau is different from Ohanas. Enjoy whatever you decide.

Luau is a 2 TS credit and you hold it with a credit card you do this as well with Hoop de Do and is also 2 TS Luau and O' Hana's two seperate dining places. O'Hanas great food was not impressed with Luau food but show was good.

Thanks:)

We go to Le Cellier for the steak, and the cheese soup. The atmosphere is not exceptional in my opinion
Ohanas and the Luau are different
We always save money doing the dining plan and yes it is far more convienent.
Alot of the things your interested in would use 2ts credits each, so it may not work for you or you may want to go deluxe or oop. All the shows and CRT use 2TS creds.
If your looking for atmosphere Id consider sci fi at DHS or Coral Reef at Epcot.

Le Cellier
Ohana
Chef Mickey's
CRT

I will say that just a month or so ago, I've seen all of these except CRT pop up when searching due to cancellations.

I wouldn't recommend it for a vegetarian. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about.

I have found that CRT (especially for breakfast), Le Cellier (anytime of the day), Chef Mickey's, and Akershus breakfast (for before the park openes) are all pretty hard to get in....especially if you have a specific time that you want. However, my DH was able to snag a 7:15am ADR for Chef Mickey's (he said he has been trying for a few days now....he wanted to surprise me and the kids with it) and we leave for our trip tomorrow. Good luck with your planning, as long as you make your ADRs during your 180 day window, you should be able to get all of your ADRs.

Thanks:)

If 3 out of 4 in your group are vegetarians, I wouldn't recommend Le Cellier OR 'Ohana. Both are very meat-centric, in my opinion. There are a couple vegetarian options at Le Cellier. Check out the menu here:

Ohana is served family style so there is no menu. You get salad and some sides, but the main courses are various grilled meats on skewers. Here's the meal:

Starters: Pork fried dumplings, Corriander chicken wings, and Mixed Greens with Honey-Lime dressing.

Skewers (prepared over an oak fire): Marinated sirloin steak, Asian BBQ pork loin, Mesquite grilled turkey, and non-peeled shrimp.

Accompaniments: broccoli and green peas and pad Thai noodles.

Dessert: 'Ohana bread pudding a la mode with Banana Foster sauce.

CRT and Fantasmic are two of the most difficult ressies. I always make these 180 days out, well almost. I don't know how CRT slipped through the cracks. I realized in April, it's not booked for our trip later this month. I've been trying every day and still can't book it.

i found Le Cell and CRT to be the hardest. Still haven't gotten CRT. Had to do the candlelight processional package to get Le Cell.

I agree with Le Cellier. We have been trying for almost 6 months (since we could book dining ressies) and we leave in less then 2 weeks and we just found one to pop up. We grabbed it right away and will try everything we can to make it work into our plans.

The name for the luau is the Spirit of Aloha. As mentioned by a pp, Hoop De Doo, Spirit of Aloha, Fantasmic dinner packages & Candlelight Processional dinner packages require a credit card hold with a cancellation charge for no shows. CRT and CA Grill are among others which require this.

If you note on your ADR that x# of you require a vegetarian diet you may have special options at Ohana. I've read a dining review of a fantastic meal prepared by the head chef for one woman's daughter. But if he is not there the night you dine your choices may indeed be limited.
