HI! Over the past three trips I have taken to WDW, I have found there are some basics that one needs to have a good trip. What do you all think some essentials to a good trip are?

With Kids:
*Coloring Books

*Snacks for in the room/Ones that fit into fanny packs

*Naps in the early afternoon (If possible!)

*Don't push them to do what they are not comfortable with.

*Let them run through the fountains in Epcot!!

*Do some character meals. Their facial expressions alone make the meals worth it!

*Let them be kids!

Without Kids:
*Relax

*Do some character meals!

*Take midday swims.

*Have at least one romantic evening while in WDW. (Nice dinner, walk on beach or boardwalk, be a little grown up for a while!)

*Do both adult and kid oriented rides.

*Be a kid!

Overall, know WDW. Be informed by doing some research!

I totally agree with 2 of your tips

*Don't push them to do what they are not comfortable with.

*Let them be kids!

It amazes me how many parents push their kids on to rides to get the "maximum benefit" out of there tickets.

This is a great thread for our Tips Board...

I think a back pack that is small filled with gatorade and cracker snack packs are a good tip! A misty belt and a sea breeze fan. We liked using both! Just let the magic take you! It really works on its own better than you forcing it!You truly feel like you have left the real world behind!:D

Watch your kids faces beam when you say, "HEY, cool it on the veggies, you need to save room for dessert!"

ESSENTIALS: Pack half the clothes and twice the money!

I totally agree with SandraC's ESSENTIALS! Also, a small bottle of spill-proof bubbles made waiting in line at the buses a breeze for our toddler. See EVERYTHING through your child's eyes for the entire trip. It'll take years off your face and melt your heart over and over again!

Don't let anything ruin your trip!! If you have a bad meal or bad encounter w/ a CM...just let it go...don't let it get to you!!

Bring extra film!!

Realize that you WILL NOT be able to do and see everything!! There's always next time!!

1) Brita water bottles saved time, money and taste buds!! They were a blessing in disguise...we just asked for a cup of ice at any counter and the CM happily obliged! We had fresh, cold water all day!
2) Flexibility! Make plans and then be prepared to change them!
3) Patience...you'll need lots!
4) Smiles and good manners even when you feel like Grumpy!
5) Pain Reliever (7 yr old got a toothache, 13 yr old had muscle aches we didn't plan for)
Just keep reminding yourself of all that you HAVE done and NOT what you missed, there's always next time!

What great ideas! Definately the afternoon break. I've said it to anyone who ever asks me about going to Disney, I'm the resident "expert" at work. Another tip we do is since our young son pays a full fair airline ticket we make sure he has his own suitcase. But what we do is fill his with "goodies", snacks etc. And put his clothes in mine. Around mid-week we do a load of laundry and put detergent and fabric softner is small tuppperware containers. Not only do you have fresh clothes but we only bring half the clothes. We need room for souviners! Laundry is easily done in an hour because of the big machines the resorts have and we swim while it's being done. Especially if it's hot a fresh shirt or shorts feels great.
