I am going to WDW for a day (i live only 45 min away) with someone using an ECV for the first time and I want to be as prepared as I can be to make the visit as easy as possible for him.

He has a bad back/knees and is overweight and we know the only way he will survive (he's never been to WDW! *gasp*) is in the ECV. he can stand for short periods of time, but not much more.

So tell me, knowledgeable DISers....what are the easiest rides/ attractions to do and why?? Any tips I need to know??

They all are. He can ride the ECV to the ride vehicle and then transfer into it. The ECV will not be an issue. The only thing that might stop him is what his body is not able to do. Things like stepping up and down out of a boat like POTC might be hard on him. Only he will know what his limitations are as far as this goes. The ECV itself will not be the problem.

Thanks for the reply. I didnt think the ECV was the issue I am just looking to find info about the ease of parking it and getting back to it, where to go with it and things like that.

I'm sure you weren't asking about this--but there is NO front of the line access. People with ECVs and WCs go in the same line as everyone else. You won't have a problem with "where to go" because you will go with the rest of your party.

Most lines are mainstreamed. You will take the ECV right up to the ride in most cases. It will be at the exit of the ride when you are finished. There are a few rides that require you to transfer into a WC (Pirates is one of them....it is actually the most difficult ride for me to maneuver.) I am unable to do most of the "big" rides, but when I could, access wasn't too difficult!

I only have time for a short reply, but it will be helpful.

Follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES FAQs thread and go to page 2. Scroll down a bit and you will find a post about each park that talks about boarding - how far a step down or up, etc.

one of the biggest issues is maneuvering within the lines. if he is not used to driving one he may have a problem negotiating turns and corners especially when the lines are crowded.

he should practice first if he can
