I am waiting for my paperwork to buy 234 pts at AKV but along with what you mentioned above, I was offered 234 2008 pts in my use year for SSR also. I was told the $8 off was a referral incentive.SSR expires in 2054. AKV expires in 2057. The pricing for both is currently $104 per point. AKV has an incentive of $8 per point off - SSR did have a $10 per point incentive, but I'm not sure if that still exists since DVC announced that the resort is sold out.
There has been a $500 Disney rewards incentive also available for AKV along with Developer Points for those purchasing at Kidani Village which will not open until May, 2009. Reservations may be made for dates May 1 and later beginning on August 10 for AKV owners.

so if you buy now...do you actually close in May 2009?
when we bought SSR our unit wasn't built yet and we didn't close for a couple months after the purchase.
when can you use the AKV pts at other resorts? May 1st?
We just just added on at AKV, and closed Sunday August 10th. Since our add on is for Kidani (which once Kidani opens, Kidani and Jambo House will be together, whoever owns at AKV can go to either one), we can not use our points until after Kidani opens (May 1, 2009), but we will get the points on our use year which is October (2008).
The incentives we were offered for 160 points was:
$1,000 Visa Gift Card
$8 off each point ($1,280 which can be used towards down payment)
5 night (1 bedroom) stay at either Saratoga or AKV, if chosing Saratoga you can make the reservations now for 7 months out, or if chosing AKV you have to make the reservations for May 1st or later (but no longer than 11 months out).
Free Passes (good with your free 5 night stay, everyone in your room will receive 3 passes each day, for 5 days)

Okay, so here is the info I got today...
If you buy a minimum 100 pts at AKV, you get a $500 Visa Card, 100 pts to use at SSR, $8 off per point, and no dues until May 2009.
SSR has no incentives.
Is this for NEW members or was it an add-on? I hadn't heard of the 100 DP's at SSR for the 100 point initial contracts. If this is the case, I am telling DH that we are buying in tomorrow!![]()

Is it true that some incentives expire a certain number of hours (or once you leave Disney property) if you take the tour? If so, can anyone give me details on that? I was a bit confused by our (potential) guide's explanation of this. I believe she said that the $8 off per point would only apply if we signed before we left Disney. i would LOVE to know if this is true b/c it could impact when we take the tour (we'd go in the beginning of our trip instead of the end).
