My DH and I planned our trip a couple of months ago. All plans were made to go the third week of August. I wanted to go in September, but after a lot of arm twisting, he convinced me to go during my Birthday. :teeth: Now he is worried about the crowds. We purchased a new Disney guide book, and it said that it can still be very busy that week. Just wondering what you all have experienced that week. Thanks :sunny:

Crowds are still pretty heave during this time...and its the hottest time of the year.

Heavy is a subjective term...I certainly agree with Christypl in that the third week of August crowds are much heavier than September.

But...if you are going to go in the summer the third week of August is the best time to go. Many schools are open starting Monday the 14th, so crowds will be noticeably lighter than they are the rest of the summer.

Enjoy your trip!

well, our August trip was back in 2003 but crowds weren't that bad at all, we did go towards the end of the month (after the 15th), I think many schools start back by then.

BUT not having a clue back then I didn't realize it was hurricane season and while we didn't have any hurricanes we did have quite a bit of rain. Thank goodness for those mickey ponchos! It also wasn't as hot as I expected due to the rainy days.

We went the 3rd week of August last year and we just got back from going the 3rd week of June.

I thought the crowds were alot heavier in June then they were in August. The heat felt about the same.

I was kinda amazed at the crowds because I didn't think alot of people would be out of school yet, so I thought August would be worse, but in my opinion it was better then June!!!

Have fun!

We found this website to be very good at predicting crowds:

http://www.touringplans.com
(click on "crowd calendar" on the left-hand side)

It takes into account reader surveys, past crowds, and special event information for the dates you want to go, and even breaks it down into which parks will be busier on which days.

They haven't been too bad, but with the dining plan this summer, who knows?? It won't be the crowds that get you, but the intense heat and HUMIDITY. :)

We have also found that June crowds, at least in years past, have been larger than August crowds.
