What are the chances..?

With the border rules (hopefully) changing for Canadians at the end of this month, I’m piecing together an Easter trip for DD and I.


So far I have a cash room at AS Sports for Thurs Ap 14, studio at BRV Fri Ap 15 and 2 nights in a BCV studio (almost fainted when I spotted this) Apr 16 & 17.

I’ve been scouring the cash side as well and noticed a RIV Tower Studio for cash the 14-16. What are the chances it gets dumped into the points pool… or should I use my WL on something more attainable

Since we are within 60 days and you are a DVC member, you could call MS and ask for availability on cash and points.
I have had luck with that within the 60 day mark.

Yes, you have to call MS to see the availability. They are able to do more on call than on chat for some reason.

Because at 60 days any unbooked room goes into a shared cash/DVC breakage inventory. And MS would need to move it back to DVC to book it, if there is any breakage inventory available.

I stalk a LOT. I can tell you about 40-35 days prior to the ressie, I see a lot of movement and it slows down a lot
after 30 days and then picks back up again a week or so prior. So, I would secure what you can and then
really stalk as much as you can. I would be in the "modify" mode of adding to your ressie when you keep refreshing in case
something comes up you can grab it quickly.

It could be inventory representing some points used to trade to a cruise, or other Disney Collection venue. Which would mean it has to stay cash, not points to offset the cost of the trade out by a member.

That is the one thing we don't know and never will...which category the rooms showing up on Disney for cash got there. They can be from the points, as you say, that DVC/DVC still own, they can be from an owner who trading out of DVC to use another option, or they are there because they represent breakage rooms 60 days or less from check in.

Breakage rooms are, however, allowed to be anticipated and can show up more than 60 days ahead of time. IMO, that tower room you may be seeing could be simply one of the undeclared rooms that are not yet part of DVC all together. They have not yet declared all the rooms for sale for DVD yet.

That was my thought as well - undeclared inventory. I just wasn’t sure if those ever got shifted to points. The 2 nights I was looking at were $1200 . Cash prices just blow my mind but I guess someone books them.

Undeclared inventory can not legally be booked on points as it is not part of the condo association yet. They can, of course, shift any rooms for cash that were put there as breakage, if they decide they want to do that, but those are the only ones.

That is just crazy. And, they do! I have friends who are staying in a RIV 2 bedroom in August on cash!!! I think for 10 nights! OUCH!!!!!!! Makes me appreciate DVC all the more!!!
