What are the chances do you think...

There was a time when I really didn't like Sean Penn, but I have to say that he has redeemed himself in my eyes tonight.

I've always loved him AND he's my partner's favorite actor... maybe I should wake her up to tell her, using her Spanish accent (like Penelope), that "Cham-paigne" won.

Isn't it incredible!?. ::yes:: I haven't watched the Oscars in years, nor cared who won what. This year, it mattered greatly to me. Sean Penn winning Best Actor for his portrayal of Harvey Milk, along with his moving acceptance speech has truly moved me to tears. I feel more than a little silly, but YES! YES! YES!!!

Best Picture? Yep. Would have been icing on the cake, but the man won, Harvey Milk and that is what it was all about. ::yes::

And indeed, the grandchildren of those opposed to Gay Marriage will hang their heads in shame... how perfect a statement is that?

So, the chances were pretty good for a' that! :teeth:

I cried a bit when they showed Ollie Johnson. I didn't know he passed away. :sad1: Disney animation in the 60's and 70's wouldn't have been the same without him.

The chances of Milk winning are about the same as Melissa Leo walking away with the little golden guy.

I would love for Sean Penn to win, but I think Mickey (and not the mouse) will win.
I thought Mickey was definitely going to win. I thought Sean Penn gave a great acceptance speech
UGH..

Queen Latiffa is on, getting ready to show the video of everyone who has passed....this always makes me cry!

Ollie Johnson

Cyd Charisse

Paul Newman

:sad1:

why wasn't there a pic of Heath Leger?

I have to say that this years Oscars surpasses all the other years. I actually sat there and enjoyed it and wasn't looking at the clock every 15 minutes, wondering how much longer. The sets, the number and of course the D to the Reamy host Hugh Jackman was fantastic. *sigh* I heart him.

I think I got teary eyed more during this Oscars then any other. I couldn't believe how much Slumdog Millionaire won, but I probably shouldn't hold judgement until I see the picture. I just haven't had a desire to see it yet.

I left happy with Milk's awards.

I loved Slumdog, and I really do see why it won. It's a love story and everyone loves a good love story.

I'm happy that Sean won for Milk because it will generate more attention-and I LOVED the screenwriter's speech. That needs to be repeated over and over and over, so that every gay person who feels that rejection will know that it's not true.

I must have started snoring during the part where they show everyone who passed away. I couldn't keep my eyes open. Is there a link to that? I woke myself up for the end thougha nd I saw Shean and Kate win. By the way I love Kate Winslet - I think she looked beautiful - always classy!
