What are the best places to share a meal?

This is our first time on the DDP. We will be eating at CRT and one signature restuarant. Both of which require 2 TS credits. I thought maybe we could stretch the rest of our credits by sharing meals at some TS and CS restuarants since many Disers have said the DDP is a lot/too much food.

Any suggestions on the best places or meals to share?

Since they took away the appetizers. I do not think people still feel. "It is to much food." To me, it never was. But, that is just my opinion. :rolleyes1

Anyhow. The best places to share cs.

Is Cosmic Rays- Thier chicken, and rib combo plate. Can easily feed two.
Tangeriene Cafe- The lamb, and chicken platter. Can also feed two.

Some people share double burgers platters. Which can be found at various cs locations. I rather have my own. But, I guess it can be done.

I did not think you can share a TS, on the ddp. Maybe someone else can chime in and correct me, if I am wrong?

Definitely Cosmic Ray's in MK and Flame Tree Barbecue in AK. They are both CS. Have fun!

These are the places that came to mind for me too! I haven't tried these two places, so I wonder if one is better than the other. I've heard a lot of positive reviews for Flame Tree, but not as many for Cosmic Ray's

I don't think I can share a double burger either! I need one all to myself. ::yes::

As for splitting a TS, I've seen other posters talking about it, so I thought it could be done. If anyone else has tried it, let me know. :)

This is from the Dis 2008 DDP FAQ:
Can I share meals with other guests on the Dining Plan staying on the same hotel reservation?
There is no clear answer to this. Consistently, guests seem to be allowed to share the meals ordered on the Dining Plan amongst the guests at their table, with the exception of fixed price meals, such as buffets or other all-you-can-eat options. However, this question was been asked directly to Disney via email, by a number of guests, and consistently, they have answered this question by saying specifically that, "sharing is not permitted." Despite several attempts to get clarification about that statement, no clarification appears to be forthcoming from Guest Communications, and nothing official has been released by Disney Dining to resolve the confusion. Ask your server.

If you were to share CS, I'd recommend WPE cafe in Marketplace, Flame Tree, Sunshine Seasons, and depending on what you order, Cosmic Rays.

My TA said they usually dont let you share TS, but sometimes you get a server that will let it slide.

Thanks for the info on TS :thumbsup2

Hmmm.... Sunshine Seasons, That's one I forgot about.

I think you could easily share at Wolfgang Puck Express. Its one of our favorite places to eat and the fact that its a CS is unbelievable.. by far the best value IMO. We shared at Flametree. They let us trade the beans for a cornbred muffin so we split the ribs and eat had a muffin and I bought my own drink.

Tony's in MK has huge portions. Last year we found there to be way too much food on the DDP. With 5 of us, 3 adults (1 being a 10 y/o) and 2 children, we shared a lot. Even at the Cal Grill, which is 2 TS, our server suggested we share with the kids because there is just so much food. Now that the app is gone I suspect we won't be as full but think we'll still share.

For CS Cosmic Ray's is an easy share. We also shared at Backlot Express in MGM. Their burgers are doubles which I cannot eat so we'd order an extra bun, for .40 at the time, and have two burgers for the price of one. Double burgers are just gross IMHO and way too much to eat for my family.

Really, I think most of the portions are large enough to share. :goodvibes

we've never had a problem sharing at table service rest. ;) we share all the time because the servings are so big.

Obviously you cannot share at buffets, all you can each things such as skillets, etc.

I agree with other posters but wanted to add 50's primetime cafe. We usually order the milkshake (which is really 2 servings), pot roast, and get the brownie sundae:love:

Last time we were so full splitting this we couldn't finish dessert:(

another place is whispering canyon because 1 person can get the bottomless shake as their drink and you can pay out of pocket for a 2nd shake... they can be very filling:thumbsup2

Without the appy it no longer seems like too much food to be either. Last year, with 2 appys and 2 entrees and 2 desserts, well that was alot of food. BUt no appy? changes everything for us at least:)

We did share DDP at AP. This was when appy was included. He ordered the soup, i paid OOP for the soup (yummmm), shared the buffalo (huge piece of meat!) and then shared the dessert.

It was the perfect amount for me. It was toward the end of our trip and i was tired of eating large portions.

If you share a TS, add an appy OOP and that should be good for you:thumbsup2

We've shared CS at Cosmic Ray's, Flame Tree, ABC Commissary, Yak & Yeti CS, Sunshine Seasons, Tangierine Cafe and Pecos Bill. We've never gone hungry, even sharing, but my favorite places to share are Tangierine and Pecos Bill. You get a ton of food at Tangierine Cafe, and at Pecos Bill the condiments bar is practically a meal in itself, so I'm stuffed after half a hamburger. Also, their wraps are, IMO, way too big for one person to eat. DH and I almost never order for ourselves - we just clean up after the kids (a teen and 2 tweens). We've never shared TS, but if someone isn't very hungry, we'll order them just a side salad or an appy rather than a meal.

DF & I can split just about anything at WDW, since we find most of their portions huge!

But places in particular are Tangierine Cafe's platters (chicken, lamb, combo, or vegetarian), pretty much every bakery item at the Main St. Bakery in MK, meals at Beaches & Cream, every dessert at Beaches & Cream, and the Create Your Own Rice Krispy Treats at Goofy's Candy Co in DTD!
