We are going during the last two weeks of August and I am wondering what times are peak periods for CS and TS restaurants (so we can avoid them).

For lunch anywhere from 11:30-1:30 is crazy and from 5:30-700 is nuts as well.

That is when it starts getting more crowded. It is still an "ok" time to go, but you want to be eating at that time, not getting in line.

Isn't free dining happening during this time? Well at least most of the end.

If you don't have ADR's you will be staying away from the TS restaurants from opening to close because they will not have any tables available and will not .

Yes it is during free dining and I have already made my ADRs but I wanted to know if our 5:30 dinners and 11:15 lunches will be crazy busy

I usually do those times for ADRs and its usually pretty busy but it depends on a few variables such as what restaurant you are going to. I find Captain's Grille, Marrakesh and Raglan Road (During the day not at night) tend to be pretty quiet.

Whereas Le Cellier, Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys would be hectic all the time.

But if you have ADRs don't fret as you have a guaranteed seat and don't have to fight to get a walk-up spot.

Im going during Free Dining soon so I hope you have a magical trip:wizard:

Thanks!

I'm more concerned with CS locations because lines can become intense. Would 11:00 be a good time without long lines?

I've done the free dining a couple of times and these were our experiences:

For CS: We ate a light breakfast and had lunch around 11/ 11:15. We didn't have much in the way of crowds, but they picked up a lot starting around 11:30. A 5:30 dinner was OK, too.

For TS dinners: If it is a restaurant that doesn't open until 5, then 5:30 will be a good time. Most of those seem really busy from about 6 o'clock on. If it is a place that is open all the time, like say Crystal Palace, it will be busy all the time because of free dining. TS lunches were just as crowded as dinners.

I always allow plenty of time for our TS meals, that way if there is wait, it doesn't affect our plans.

While in the parks we usually have a counter service lunch just after 11:00 AM to avoid any major crowds. However in August 2008 during free dining we were at Epcot and the line for the Electric Umbrella was out the door, so I guess that had to do with free dining and that was just after 11:00 AM. Although it wasn't like that at any of the other counter service locations we went to in the parks.
