So my DH and I are waiting to see if our contract goes through, but I want to try to go 12/29 to 1/2. What are our chances of getting reservations (we just put the contract in)? We are buying in BWV but would be willing to stay other places. Which place do you think we will get into??

P.S. --- I am soooo excited!!! :goodvibes

You won't know until you try but history says the odds are against you. Those nights are during Christmas break weeks, include Dec 31 which is the highest DVC demand night of the year, and you are thus looking at times where even resort owners using the 11 month window call exactly 11 months out to assure getting the time. Possibly might find something, maybe at SSR or because of cancellations but don't go in expecting to do so.

I would say you would have to have all the stars aligned and cross all fingers and toes and hold your breath and MAYBE you will get something or at least part of that. Other than that, I'd say slim to no chance just about anywhere. The best chance might be if AKV opens enough new villas by then, or possibly SSR.

It is probably good to hear this... so I do not get my hopes up! I know my DH will be secretly happy because I know he would rather use all of our points in the summer and take a long vacation.

I have to say Thank You to all on these boards... we have done so much reading while deciding how many points to buy and where. We are so excited for our upcoming vacations!!! :yay:

Once you are well into DVC ownership, you will be able to make those reservations 11 months ahead with no problem. High occupancy times are always an issue for late booking. FYI, you might try one of the mionor school holidays. If your school has any extended time like a long weekend in January, February or October, those are great times to go! We hate the heat of summer in Florida....Did it a couple of times, and never again! Even Thanksgiving is a good time to go!

I know when I tried to book our 2BR for 1/1 - 1/7 at SSR, we had to take a 1BR for 1/1 and waitlist for a 2BR. We are still waitlisted. I am now thinking if we were just getting a room for 1 night, why didn't I go with a studio and save points?

We are staying at OKW 12/28/08-1/2/09 and made our reservations at exactly 11 months. You may be have luck waitlisting, but its a very busy week.....We have been xmas week for the last 3 yrs and we have always made the reservations at 11 months.

I have been on the waitlist for 12/30-1/2 since Feb. for the Boardwalk and at all other resorts since the 7 month window. I need a 2 br....so far, no luck. I have a cash reservation at CBR as a backup, but I'm hopin for the best.

That is one of the most difficult weeks to book at Disney. Waitlist will be the way to go and people have reported some movement lately. I called about a month ago on a whim and Saturday 12/28 had availability most anywhere but all Christmas week days before and after were fully booked in studio, one bed and 2 beds in all resorts. I would open it up to other resorts, too. BWV is extremely popular for it's easy access to Epcot and MGM on NYE.

Or, mark you calendar for January and book for NYE 2009!
