What Are My Chances In Getting Seated as A Walk In

instead of doing ADR? We are going in November and I want to do Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace or possibly 1900 Park Fare, but since DD is unpredictable, I don't want to make ADR and have to stick to a "schedule" so to speak. What are my chances? Slim?

But we went last Nov and walked right into Sci Fi, no wait at all
We went early Nov though, not during Thnxgiving

The other 2, maybe a little easier.

Either way, not something I would want to take the chance on with the said "unpredictable" child (although I understand totally!) -- getting there and being turned away and then having to go elsewhere, might be worse than having the plan, don't you think?

I'd have to think that for character meals it would be a pretty slim chance of being seated as a walk-up. Unless you were somehow lucky enough to walk up just after someone either no-showed or cancelled. But I really wouldn't bank on that, make an ADR or two & try to get the kids there. How old is DD? & why would you lable her as "unpredictable?"

make ADRs, cancel if daughter's mood is "ify". I have walked into CP and CM in the past, but in the last few years, you really need ressies for any character meals.

It's always possible to cancel, but not possible to walk up, and certainly not without a significant wait. That might turn a good mood into a disasterous one in short order!

Do the adr's. We are going Nov 2-7 and had a hard time getting the times, if at all, for some of our choices a coupe of weeks ago. Chef Mickeys is booked for dinner for the days we were available....Jersey Week, F&W Fest.???? who knows

I was thinking, like this poster said, you might have trouble getting ADR's period. Go ahead and call NOW before any more time passes, you can always cancel if you really feel it won't work out for your family.

I'm making reservations for early December, and almost everything seems to be booked, so don't conut on too much. Lunch would probably be your best bet if you plan to walk-in though.

Good point about canceling. I think I'm going to try for lunch. Breakfast will be too hard since she eats as son as she wakes, although since she's free I guess it won't matter if she doesn't eat. Dinner time, she turns into a pumpkin . We tried Friendly's (the most kid friendly place on earth) and she was a monster!! Rambling now! I'll just try to make some ADR and see what happens!

Not to be a jerk: kid does what you said. If she is acting "unpredictable" she doesn't get to eat with Mickey Mouse. Done. Make ADR's. You may not get in and more than likely will not.

I don't think a 19 month old quite understands the concept of why she wouldn't be able to eat with Mickey Mouse if she was having a bad day

Another option is to try to make an ADR on the day of. At least that way, you will have a handle on how your DD is that day, and you will know before you get there if you have a chance of getting in. That's probably the closest to balancing the two as you can get.

I would definitely go for the ADR too, and I agree that lunch sounds better than dinner, she may be tired by then. I know what it is like to try to "reason" with an 18 month old who doesn't have any reasoning skills yet. We never did sit down lunches until this past trip and found out that it is really nice to sit down in the ac for an hour in the heat of the day and not have to fight for a table, carry your tray around etc.
I would try for an ADR for CP for lunch.

Chef Mickey's isn't going to happen. Crystal Palace is unlikely for the character meals. Park Fare might work, expecially if you're willing to eat at "off" hours.

I'm assuming you're not there around Thanksgiving, because all bets are off then.
