We want to go back to WDW the Wed. after MLK weekend for 5 or 6 nights. Do you think we could get in VWL at the 7 mo. window??

Might not be a problem. Just make a reservation at your home resort and then see if you can change it at 7 months. That way, if it is a problem, you'll still have somewhere to stay.
