What are my chances at getting main dining on the waitlist?

Ugg...we were booked for Aug 2016 sailing and then decided to switch to Oct 2016 instead. Had main dining, and when I got the quote a week ago still had main time option, but today when I go to finally reserve it now it's for second seating and the TA said no guarantees. Not interested in second seating. It was chaotic trying to switch dates before, I don't want to go through that again, but second seating just wouldn't work for our family. Any guesses as to our odds of getting main seating? Would you just go ahead with the chosen date and book it and hope for the best? I don't want to miss out on the dining room experience since we enjoyed it so much last time.

In October, I bet your chances are pretty good. I would guess you have a 65% chance of getting early dining.

I'd say you have a pretty good chance of getting switched, especially making the request this far out.

We are cruising this april. Made our reservation in October 2015 and were on the wait list. We just paid our final balance last week and we are now on main dining.

A lot of people will be cancelling than maybe main dining will open up. Probably close to the paid in full date

We got main dining for a large group after being on the waitlist with second for what seemed like forever but really was a few months. We booked the cruise 7 months out.

The theory of pif and then it opening up is interesting.

We have been 4 for 4 for getting wait listed then moved to main dining. Do you have small children? I was told (not sure how true this is) that they try to accommodate families with small children into main dining.

We're 5 for 6 on the waitlist coming through. When the change was made varied anywhere from within a week of making the request to a week prior to the cruise.

On our B2B on the Fantasy, we were late seating, requested early, one of them came through about 2 months out from the cruise, while the other didn't happen until the week prior.

A few weeks ago I posted that i was able to switch my Dining instantly after I paid in full. I had a hunch about this and it 'paid off.' I paid a few days before the deadline. The option of Main was not available, I checked. Then PIF, checked again, available, switched it. yea! So if it is really important, save your pennies a little faster. Hope you get it. Even though 5:45 is early too, i definitely felt relieved once i was confirmed for Main.
