We have 10 nights off-site in Orlando. We want to have a mix of theme park days, retail therapy and days chilling out by the pool. I know it will be impossible to "do it all" in the time we have so what would your top 5 recommendations be ( 2 Adults, 2 kids 8 and 6)?

gosh a tricky one.......

I would say......
Magic Kingdom a must. Lovely Disney day out.
Animal Kingdom if your kids like the Zoo but with some Rides
Universal Studios if your kids love cinema and rides
Take in a water park wet n wild, blizzard beach our fav is Disneys Typhoon lagoon - then those who like to laze can on sand or on lazy river and those who like water rides are catered for.
Sea World - I loved Sea world when I was 9 but last year 29! with DD 5 I was bored! every show seemed the same. DD 5 loved it a few rides included.

We did 10 days last year off site in a villa - but managed to pack in all Disney - you just need a good plan. Pick everyone's brains on here is the best advice.

good question!
my must do's are:

1, Disney parades, shows, evening entertainment, sounds like a lot but the free shows and evening fireworks are worth the entrance price alone!, mgms fantasmic is THE best show! illuminations at epcot, wishes and spectromagic at Magic Kingdom, oooh! I could go on, as you enter each park there are times guides to pick up, little show like the pirate show in Magic Kingdom with the johnny depp cap'n jack sparrow-alike ( ) are definately worth seeing.

2, At least one of the disney water parks, they're both great and I personally love Typhoon lagoon best but a day in either one is not to be missed.

3, Character meal - sorry but just sums up the whole experience, really makes you feel like a child again and is great fun and a good photo op! do your reasearch though as some have on going notoriously bad reviews!

4, Seaworld, a totally different park idea to Disney, and great fun, allow a full day and you'll get pretty much most of it done, it is tiring though and as with all parks it definately pays to study the map upfront and work out YOUR must do's

5, shopping - try premium outlets, mall at millenia and florida mall for the best mix of all types of shops - I'd seriously try and allow 2 or 3 days out of 14

Apart from the usual days of disney shopping etc we always take a trip to englewood beach where we spend time collecting shark teeth off the beach , even now the kids always ask are we going to the beach when were on holiday! there is infomation leaflets at the car park showing the different types of shark teeth you can find .
On the way back to orlando we stop off in siesta key for a meal and a drink and watch the sunset .

In order (I know you said top 5) :

1. Magic Kingdom
2. Disney MGM
3. Islands of adventure.
4. Sea World
5. Universal Studios
6. EPCOT
7. Animal Kingdom

At a push, arrving early/leave late, with careful planning, Disney MGM and Animal Kingdom can be done in a day. I would say the same for Universal Studos and Islands of Adventure.

From past experience, and what im looking forward to most this year :

1. Islands of Adventure
2. Discovery Cove
3. Animal Kingdom
4. Epcot, world showcase
5. Tower of Terror
