What are Mules and How do they work?

So, am I missing some thing? what is a mule and how do you use them?

a mule is a secondary character, created soley for the use of credit gathering. People create several of them, collecting daily credits and playing games to give to their primary character, they are helpful on weekend where there are *expensive* specials.
