What Are Late November Crowds Like?

We are planning a trip to Disneyland in an upcomming November (either 2010 or 2011) around Thangsgiving time. We will be visiting a relative for Thanksigiving who lives in the LA area, so we would be spending a few days at DL either before or after Thanksgiving.

What are the crowds like in late November? We would probably be going around the weekend before Thanksgiving (a couple weekdays and weekend days) or around the weekend after Thanksgiving. Are there larger crowds around these times? Are there any parades, Fatasmic, etc around these times? Also, when do they usually have the Christmas decorations and the Haunted Mansion decorations?

Like i say in almost all posts about crowds, due to cheap Annual Passes PLUS the payment plan, almost all times are crowded now.

The friday before Thanksgiving week has been the start of the Christmas season in the past. So that's, what, 6 days before Thanksgiving.

As far as how busy it is I'm not sure. I would think much less busy the week before thanksgiving than the week after.

One of our very best trips crowd-wise was the week after Thanksgiving and before the CP and CM parties the first week of Dec. It rained, which I am sure contributed to the low crowds, but we walked on everything and felt like we had the parks to ourselves. The Believe Holiday fireworks run every night, and the Christmas Fantasy Parade ran daily, and F! was shown on the weekends. Unfortunately, the DEP does not typically run during this time. They bring it back during the 2 weeks during peak Christmas vacation time.

What are the "CP and CM parties"?

The Candlelight Processional traditionally occurs the first weekend of Dec. It makes the parks extra crowded those days and creates quite a traffic jam on Main Street USA on Sat and Sun evenings during the two show times.

The Cast Member holiday parties traditionally occur the Monday and Tuesday evening following the CP. Disneyland closes early those nights (6 pm), but there are fireworks at 5:45 and DCA stays open later than normal.

Which is simply false.

Saturdays are actually typically very light. It is also still empty in September, most of February and, especially, in May.

Last year we were there the weekend after Thanksgiving and were really surprised at how manageable the crowds were on Saturday. The only time it got pretty crowded was Sunday afternoon til evening...probably when most of the locals arrived.

We are planning on bringing our friend's son for his 7th bday the weekend of Nov 28th do you think this will be a good bet crowd wise?

The more research I do, the more it sounds like Thanksgiving weekend is usually busy. For now, I'm leaning toward the weekend (and a couple week days before Thanksgiving. As this November gets closer, I'll see what the park hours and entertainment schedule looks like for that time.

Be aware that if you need to book a hotel the prices go up the closer you get to the date you are going. It's cheaper to book early.
