What are evening EMH at MK like?

We will be at WDW in May, and planned our AK day for Wednesday because that is EMH in the Magic Kingdom. We thought we would finish up at AK, have dinner somewhere, then head over to MK late to be there from 9-11. Now, Rivers of Light has been announced, and before I looked at our schedule, I booked a Tusker House ROL Dining Package for that day.

My family is super-crazy about MK, so I'm unsure whether to keep the dining reservation and see ROL that night, or let it go and go to EMH at the MK. We have Park Hoppers, so seeing ROL another night isn't out of the question, but I don't know now how difficult it might be to get seats.

Thoughts?

MK's PM ENH are the only PM EMH we enjoy.

So many attractions are open, that none are "full" for much of the evening.

And, MK is the only park that offers "LATE" EMH (as in, an EMH that starts at 11pm, or later.
Especially in the summer, you can stay late... and the later the EMH, the fewer guests will be in the park.

1. Good plan.
2. Nobody knows, at this point.

Late-night EMH last week were both a complete waste of our time at both EPCOT and MK. At EP, Frozen was broken, Test Track was "not participating", and Soarin' was backed up in the FP line til 10PM, because it was down for approximately an hour around 6:30 PM, so they decided to let the standby line not move (we moved once in 20 minutes so left) and spend the first hour clearing out FP's that they decided to honour til 10PM instead of 9. People were still ENTERING the FP queue at 9:50 as we were leaving. We were told earlier they would honour only til 9PM, so we came back right after it reopened to get ours in. If we had known, we would have done TT and used our FP's after Illuminations.

At MK, Splash and Pirates were "not participating", and BTMRR came to a screeching halt as we were riding just after 9:15, so was shut down for the night. After our experience the night before in EP, we decided to leave because we assumed that Buzz and Space would be packed.

If you're going a bit later after AK closes, maybe you'll get lucky. We've never had an experience like last week, and were very disappointed in the rides that just did not participate ... can't control the ones that broke down, but when you put it all together, not worth it.

That's a shame. Sorry you had such a disappointing experience.

I've done a year where we hit all the extra hours, and then another year where we didn't hit any. Both had their plus and minuses. Epcot and HS is almost a waste of time. One day there were magic hours and almost all the rides but two were broken. I would have rather slept in then wandered around looking for something to do. Then I found this really wonderful thing called Pin trading. The last trip we only had our fast passes in the morning and then one or two meals planned, but a lot of the time normally wandering around with nothing to do was filled with pin trading. Had one of the best trips ever.

Agree with above poster that MK evening EMH are the only evening hours we like.

The later you stay the better. DD and I did evening hours 12-2AM and it was amazing. Rides were all walk ons, and the empty park was amazing. We rode HM right at 2AM and the area was completely empty. One of our favorite memories for sure!

We have done some 10-12PM EMH's and they are certainly more crowded, but again, the later you stay the better.

During our trip last May, we got so much done during MK EMH. We were there last Wednesday, and it was not what we remembered. Several rides were not participating and we had to get out of line for BTMRR because it broke down. Most of the other rides that were open had 30-40+ minute waits so we opted to head back to our resort and get dessert instead. Hopefully you have our first experience!!

Why not do both? Eat at your dining reservation, see ROL at 7:15, then after that head to MK and do PM EMH there until close

According to MDE, ROL is at 9:15 that night, and MK EMH is 9-11. Otherwise, that would be a perfect plan.

On our first trip, we stayed at MK for EMH from 11-1. It was amazing, especially close to closing time. That's why we have been so looking forward to EMH hours there again. We may have to either forego ROL or just decide that it isn't the priority, and that if we get to see it, we get to see it. I'm sure it will be around for a while.

EMH at MK are our favorite and only ones we make an effort for. We will work our plan to make sure we take advantage of it. There are so many attractions that even if one goes down you can still have a great time.

Ohhh ok. I didn't look that far out. I'll be there next week so I just saw it's 7:15 then. Didn't realize it's at 9:15 in May

There's that pesky sunlight thing to contend with.
Daylight Saving Time will have kicked-in.

;)

Last Wed was the night we were at MK too ! We actually got evacuated OFF of BTMRR ... new experience for us ! The CM telling the guy to NOT take pics when we were in an electrical room "under the mountain" was funny !

Wow! That's definitely not an experience that most have!
