What are DVC points?

I keep seeing people mention that they use their DVC points to rent rooms etc. What are they, how do I get them, and is it worth it is you live in San Diego. I always spend the night when I come up, but usually an offsite because of the expense. I mean I can stay at the Sheraton Anaheim for $129.00 and feel plenty spoiled. I would LOVE to stay at the GCH but the price.!

They are points you get by buying into the Disney Vacation Club. Other will chime in I am sure. I am renting points from a member so I can stay in the Villas in August.

DVC, stands for Disney Vacation Club. It is Disney's version of timeshare ownership. I hope that explains it for you. Byt the way try Priceline and you could get a hotel like the Sheraton for half that price.

You might want to check in the DVC section of the board. DVC is Disney Vacation Club. It is Disney's version of a timeshare. They have had properties at WDW for years and finally opened out here at DL. when you see people say they are renting. They are renting a reservation/points from someone who owns the timeshare. It hels the owner if they are not going on vacation and could use the money and helps the person renting, because it is cheaper than getting the Villa at cash prices from Disney. The Villas are different rooms than the regular hotel rooms at the GC.

Purchasing Disney Vacation Club is the best thing as far as vacations that we have done for our family.

please check out the boards and gain all info on DVC before considering it. It's not for everyone.!!

But for me and my families travel plans etc it workers wonderfully!

Finally got back to my desk so I do not have to do this from the phone. In a nut shell...

First you need to know where you want to stay, the size of the room, time of the year, number of day and then check the DVC point chart for how many points you will need. Then you go to the DVC rent/ board , find a renter and send an email about your wants. They will check availability, if available they send you the process they use for renting, contract, etc. If you agree, they make the ressie and you pay for everything up front. Once they have the confirmation mailed to them, they change the ressie to your name and others who will be attending. PM me if you have specifics.

Renting points is a nice way to experience DVC without all the hassles. We have rented points in the past and are ex DVC owners. Read ALL the stickies in the DVC forum. They are very by the book over there and do not tolerate any hunty punty lol

From what I have heard they are full until mid Sept, sounds like it is going to be very popular with only 50 available units.

This is a lot harder right now, we have been trying for about 6 weeks to find someone to rent from. I put out about 15 inquiries and no one has replied.

BUT we did do it in October and it was sooooo worth it.
