I think so. But I take into account all the money I spend on these trips, and fifteen bucks seems like nothing. Especially considering the time it can save you while in the parks, AND the planning features which also can save a TON of time.

I'm a WDW vet about to take my first fastpass+ trip. I have the MDE app on my phone and it shows wait times; can you tell me why or how the Lines app is better than just MDE? Is the MDE not accurate, and would you mind giving some examples of what makes Lines a good addition. We loved the old way of collecting fastpasses and using them as we wanted. Really not sure how I'm going to learn to love the new system. Thanks!

Sure! From our experience, which I think is probably above average but not like local AP holder, the Lines app does tend to be more accurate. Neither are near perfect, but I've found that Lines is often within 10-15 minutes. Usually on the slow side (ie. it may show 20 minutes, and the wait is 30).

For me, its worked to have both open on my phone, and switch between them depending on what I'm doing. If I'm looking at FPs, adding them, or looking for something on a map like a bathroom or restaurant, I use MDE. For waits, I use Lines, and I also contribute to Lines while I'm there (which is how it works - relies on people that are there to update the times). Lines also lets you look at how recently it was updated, so you can get an idea of accuracy.

The MDE app wait times are tied to what is posted. What is posted is often not accurate, so relying on people's actual experience in the line seems more reliable. Lines will not only use that live information, but then they extrapolate what is expected based on the input.

In other words, if what you want to see is what is posted by Disney at the ride, the MDE app will reflect that. If what you're looking for is an actual recount of someone's real wait time in line, Lines is the way to go.

Finally, for what its worth, I like FP+. I also liked the original FP, but I'm a bigger fan of having everything managed on my device. I always felt stressed out keeping the paper FPs for our whole group, especially because we travel in a hoard, so they'd pile up. I've found that my experience in lines has not been diminished as a result of the change to FP+, BUT many people disagree with me on that. I'm just saying, for me, FP+ and the magic bands and new tech is a welcome change.

The Touring Plans Lines app is user-driven... the wait-times are actual --for example right now i can see that someone has posted the "posted" wait time for Pirates was 40 minutes but their ACTUAL wait time was 29 minutes.
There is also a section that tells you which FP+ are still available
Menu search that lets you see snack credit items
If you've created a touring plan you can see it or follow one of their canned ones.

Lots of great information here! I was just thinking of adding an app or two to my phone to prepare for my upcoming trip. Thought it might be fun to see what trends unfold throughout a day as far as lines and such.

I really enjoy how the Lines app allows you to follow a touring plan but updates and reorders it to ensure that your visit is as efficient as possible. Countless times I've decided to change things up or been delayed by a strawberry sundae, and the Lines app moves things around in a way that I didn't realize would be an improvement.

What Hidden Mickeys app is used? I love this idea!

I use the one with the yellow icon. Just search for "Hidden Mickeys" & it should appear. I think it was $8 or so. Nice way to pass the time while waiting in lines or exploring resorts. My whole family loves it.

I tried searching for one, but couldn't find it. I don't use that many apps though, so I could be doing it wrong?

I just added the Uncover Tourist app. I haven't used it yet, so I don't know if it's more accurate like TP lines but they have wait times on a map like MDE. It looked to be lining up with TP wait times the couple of times I checked today. It also has the name of the ride clearly visible above the wait time in map view. With MDE in map view I sometimes have to look carefully to figure out exactly which ride it is.

On the Lines home page, scroll down to the Search Menus for Items. Then click Modify Advanced Search Filters. Then check the box for Only Show DDP Snacks. Select park and then Search.

MDE is definitely compatible with Android. What phone do you have? It works fine on my Oneplus 3T, my wife's Moto G, and my kid's Galaxy S6's.

I have an LG phone and it runs KitKat 4.4 is that too old?

That's definitely your problem. I just checked the MDE developer notes, and it requires 5.0 or higher. You might check with your wireless carrier. LG is actually not terrible at providing OS updates, depending on the carrier. For example, the LG G3 shipped with KitKat 4.4 back when it was released in 2014, but has since been updated to Marshmallow (6.0.1) on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
